BENEFIT NIGHT:
Our annual night at the dogs took place in Kilcohan Park on Saturday, where a large crowd came out to support our benefit night. Plenty of thrills and spills took place on the race track itself, with plenty of close finishes taking place.
The main gate prize on the night, which was once again kindly sponsored by Sean Power and his staff in Harvey Travel, Gladstone St., which was a weekend away in the four-star Castlerosse Hotel in Killarney was won by Donal Fitzpatrick, and well done to Donal, and once again thanks to Sean for his kind generosity.
As we all know, a huge effort went into organising this night, and thanks to all the people who sponsored races on the night, to all the advertisers who placed adverts in our program, to everyone who purchased tickets and dog nominations for the event, to the people who donated spot prizes, and to our main sponsor on the night – Derek Jordan / Martin Barrett Car Sales. Lastly, thanks also to the staff at Kilcohan Park for all their hospitality in the lead up to the race night.
Our adult Player of the Year awards also took place on the night, with the awards kindly sponsored by Sheridan’s Trophies & Awards. Senior Hurler of the Year – Graham Coady. Junior Hurler of the Year – Eimhin Burns. Junior Footballer of the Year – Caolán Mac Cathmhaoil.
Thanks to one in all, and roll on 2026.
UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:
Our U13 footballers picked up their first point in this year’s Morris’ DIY competition, where themselves and Ballyduff Lower played out a 2-02 to 2-02 draw in Ferrybank last Sunday.
On a lovely morning for the game, both sides enjoyed nice spells of possession, but scores were hard to come by throughout the game. The team worked hard, and in the end a draw was a fair result.
TEAM: Conor, Jackson, Harry, Logan, Alex, Dion, Harry, Tadgh, Oscar, Kevin, Sam, Conor, Jake.
Next up for the team is a trip next Sunday, March 16th, away to Mount Sion at 11am.
