ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP:

Our Senior Hurlers are back in action this coming Saturday, August 3rd at 6:30pm where they take on Fourmilewater in St. Mollerans’ GAA Grounds. Another stiff test awaits the team, against a side who were beaten semi-finalists last year. We wish the team the best of luck, and your support will be appreciated on the night.

JUNIOR HURLING:

Our Junior hurlers are in quarter-final action this coming Thursday, August 1st where they travel to play Portlaw with a 7pm throw-in. We are now at the knockout stage, so its winner takes all, and we would ask everyone to come along and show your support on the night

MINOR HURLING:

The combined Ferrybank / St Saviour’s side registered a crucial win over St. Patrick’s last Wednesday on a scoreline of 4-11 to 3-12, thus maintaining their unbeaten run in this year’s competition. The games keep coming thick and fast for the team as they travel to play Tramore this coming Wednesday, July 31st at 7:30pm.

UNDER 11 HURLING & FOOTBALL:

The U11 hurlers made the trip last Thursday to Butlerstown to take on the home team, along with St. Saviour’s. It was a strong team performance all round from the players in all games, which pleased the coaches on the night. Thanks to Butlerstown for hosting and for the invite. The U11 footballers are in action this coming Monday, July 29th with a home game against Gaultier at 7pm.

UNDER 12 FOOTBALL:

Our U12 Footballers travel to play Gaultier this coming Friday, August 2nd with a 6:30pm start. All support is welcome.

UNDER 10 HURLING:

Our U10 hurlers travelled to Ballygunner last Saturday to take on the hosts, along with Passage. The team applied themselves throughout the games, matching their opponents in each game, and taking some great scores. Well done to all, and thanks to Ballygunner for the invite.

WELL!KIDS:

The Well!Kids programme continues this coming Saturday morning from 10am to 11am. This is open to boys and girls aged between 4-7. It’s free to attend, where equipment can be provided if needs be. The emphasis is based on fun, and learning our game in a fun, but safe environment.

CAMOGIE ROUND UP:

Well done to Zara, Karimat, and Belle who represented the Waterford U14 Camogie team in Borrisoleigh , Co. Tipperary last Sunday, coming away with the Shield trophy following victory over Offaly in the final.

While it was so near, yet so far for the U12 side, as they were narrowly defeated by hosts Portlaw in the final of the Sonny Sullivan memorial by a point after extra-time. The team won their opening three games, and therefore contested the final, but following a great game between themselves and Portlaw, they were pipped at the end. Well done to all, and no doubt great strides have been made with this team.

Best of luck to the U8 and U10 teams who take part in the Roanmore blitz this coming Saturday, August 3rd.

DÉISE DRAW:

Best of luck to everyone who has purchased a Déise Draw ticket for this coming Friday, August 2nd. The draw will be live on WLR FM, and hopefully we can have a winner or two on the day. Well done to Áine Morrissey who was the club’s monthly winner in the opening draw, securing a nice holiday voucher as the prize.
