ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

SENIOR HURLING:

The Senior hurlers play their second game in this year’s All-County Hurling League on Sunday, April 28th at 11:30am with a home game against Fourmilewater.

MINOR HURLING:

The combined Ferrybank / St. Saviour’s combined side are in league action this coming Wednesday, April 24th where they take on Passage in St Saviours GAA grounds with a 7:15pm throw-in.

UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:

The combined Ferrybank / Erin’s Own side travelled to Portlaw last Monday and came away with the two points, with a comfortable win. The lads are on the road again, this coming Monday, April 22nd with a trip to Tallow to take on Cois Bhride at 7:30pm.

UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:

Our U13 Footballers welcomed Clashmore/Kinsalebeg to the GAA grounds last Wednesday, and it was the men from the west that went home with the points. The lads battled hard throughout the game, but came up just short on the night. Next up for the team is a trip to Ardmore on Wednesday April 24th at 6:30pm.

UNDER 12 HURLING:

Our U12 hurlers entertained Clonea last Friday, and following a good game of hurling, saw Ferrybank come out on top. A solid performance from the team, who worked hard throughout, which no doubt pleased the coaches. Well done to all concerned.

UNDER 11 HURLING:

Our U11 hurlers travelled to Poleberry to play Erin’s Own, and the team put in a great performance, taking some nice scores along the way. Well done to both teams on a good match.

UNDER 10 HURLING:

It was a busy week for the U10 hurlers with two games in as many days. During the week, Erin’s Own was first up, followed by a home game on Sunday morning against near-neighbours Kilmacow. Good performance from the team in both games, and no doubt are improving week by week.

UNDER 9 HURLING:

Our U9 hurlers made the short trip to play Mount Sion during the week. 19 players reported for duty, with both sides able to play two matches on the night. It was tough going for the Ferrybank lads, but they showed a steely side to their game, by battling all the way to the end, which impressed the coaches on the night. All the work is starting to pay dividends for the team now, and thanks to Mount Sion for the games.

UNDER 9 FOOTBALL:

Our U9 Footballers made their debut on Saturday morning where they welcomed Butlerstown for a good challenge game. On a lovely morning for a game, the lads displayed great battling qualities, against a strong Butlerstown side, which kept the coaches happy with their performance. Well done to all, and training continues on Sunday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am, for boys aged in 2015/16/17. New members are welcome to come down and give it a go.

UNDER 12 CAMOGIE:

Our U12 Camogie team made the short trip to play De La Salle last Thursday. Where for the first time in the U12 category, two teams were fielded on the night, and this is a testament to the hard work being put in for underage Camogie. Another solid effort was put in by the girls, matching their opponents all over the field. Well done to all.

UNDER 15 FÉILE CAMOGIE:

It was Féile weekend for the U15 Camogie team last Saturday. The girls travelled to Ardmore to play St. Declan’s, which they recorded a good win, but were defeated by Portlaw in their next game, which resulted in Portlaw qualifying from the group. A good experience for this young side, who no doubt, will improve as the season goes on.

COUNTY DUTY:

Well done to Sean Adeyemi, Conor Haley, and Harry Flanagan who were part of the Waterford Celtic Challenge team that defeated Dublin in the SETU Arena last Saturday morning, and it’s now off to Dundalk this coming Saturday for the team where they play Derry, while hard luck to Ruaidhri McGarrity and the Waterford U20 hurling team that were defeated by Tipperary last Friday in Fraher Field.
