GAA NOTES

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate hurlers began their 2011 hurling campagin with a trip to Bushy Park for a challenge with with Brickey Rangers, and following a good game of hurling, Ferrybank ran out 2-17 to -10pts winners. Ferrybank got of to a good start with Eoin O' Neill goaling from a free after two minutes, and from their on never looked back. Points from Sam Lawless, Eoin O' Neill and Mark Drennan cemented our four to five point lead during the first half, and just before the half time whistle, Damien Walsh got our second goal following some very good build up play leaving Ferrybank 2-6 to -4 pts up at the midway stage. It was Brickeys who made the better start to the second half with two quick scores, but Ferrybank picked up their game with James Murphy scoring three quick points to extend the lead and further points from Mark Russell, Greg Murphy, Sam Lawless and Sparky saw us run out ready winners. DEISE DRAW: This Friday March 25th sees the opening Deise Draw taking place. They are some tickets available from any committee member at 10 euro's each which will run until November. We would urge all Players, Members, Supporters, Parents to purchase a ticket, as 70%of the ticket purchase goes directly back into the club, which benefits Ferrybank Gaa club. There are 24 cash prizes on offer, with first prize 10,000 euro right through to 150 euro. So please purchase a ticket, and you never know your luck.

MINOR HURLING: Congratulations and the very best of luck to Damien Ahern and Cormac Heffernan who have been selected onto the Waterford Minor Hurling panel for the 2011 season. Both Damien, and Cormac were also on last years panel as well, and no doubt will give it their all for the county. Well done lads.
