INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers played Clonea in Ferrybank on Saturday last, and following a good game of hurling it was Clonea who emerged victorious on a scoreline of 5-13 to 3-13. Tailing 3-7 to 1-7 at the halfway stage, Ferrybank conceeded some soft goals which allowed Clonea a decent lead. Ferrybank goal came mid way throughthe first half through Damien Walsh, and points from Cormac O' Driscoll, Eoin O' Neill, Damien Walsh, Sam Lawless kept Ferrybank in the hunt. In the second half, Ferrybank worked hard to get back into the game, but soft goals proved to be downfall as Clonea took full advantage of the mistakes to punish the Ferrybank defence.Goals from Phil Blake and Mark Russell kept Ferrybank in touch, and points from James Murphy, Cormac O' Driscoll, Damien Heffernan kept the scoreboard ticking over. We could not do this without this support, well done to all the players. There was a noticeable improvement in the hurling skills and teamwork in all the kids, and their will be another match in a couple of weeks time, so keep up the practice, and attend the training sessions on Saturday mornings at 10am.Once again we would welcome any new players (from Junior Infants upwards) particulary those living in the local area but not attending Ferrybank National School. It provides kids with the opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy themselves in a controlled and safe environment. So why not let your child have a go at Gaelic Games.
