TEAM 100:
With the playing season back up and running, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.
This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.
Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.
Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.
Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for an application form to join Team 100.
UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:
The combined Ferrybank/St. Saviours U15 football team are in Division 3 Club Déise Final this coming Tuesday, May 23rd at 7pm in Carriganore where they take on St. Marys.
The team had an excellent win over Brickey Rangers in last week's semi-final, edging it on a scoreline of 1-07 to 1-05.
No doubt a stiff test awaits the team, as St Marys got the better of the team in the league stages. Best of luck to the team, and please go out and support the lads.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers recorded a good win over Tramore in their latest County League match in Ferrybank last Friday, winning on a scoreline of 3-25 to 1-16.
A very good opening half paved the way for this win. With both sides sharing the first four points in the opening minutes, Ferrybank got a grip of the game quickly, with some good hurling and this was rewarded with seven unanswered scores in as many minutes through Neil O’ Sullivan (0-02), Mark O' Brien (0-02), Cormac Heffernan, Shane Oates and Luke Flynn. Moments later, the opening goal arrived from Ruadhri McGarrity as he cut in from the by line and a one handed shot saw the sliothar go into the net. Ferrybank kept up the pressure with some quick fast play, and were rewarded with more scores from Darryl Griffin, Neil O’ Sullivan, Mark O’ Brien and Ruadhri McGarrity. Just before the half -time whistle, Neil O’ Sullivan picked up a loose ball and ran at pace evading a couple of challenges and drilled a low shot to the corner of the net to leave it 2-15 to 0-07.
Early in the second-half, Shane Oates got goal number three with a low drive to the corner of the net, but credit to Tramore who battled away, and hit 1-04 without reply to narrow the gap. However, Ferrybank stemmed the tide with more scores through Mark O’ Brien, Neil O’ Sullivan, Ryan Tierney and Robbie Carew.
A good overall display from the team, who showed good skill, passing and movement throughout the game, with some excellent scores in return. With one remaining game left in the league against Dunhill, the team have now qualified for the final. Scores Neil O’ Sullivan (1-06), Mark O’ Brien (0-08), Ruadhri McGarrity (1-01), Shane Oates (1-01), Darryl Griffin (0-03), Ryan Tierney (-2), Luke Flynn, Cormac Heffernan, Kevin Hurley, Robbie Carew (0-01) each.
