ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

CONDOLENCES:

All at Ferrybank GAA & Camogie club would like to express our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of the late Craig Breen who sadly passed away last week. A magnificently talented rally driver, Craig gave a lot to the parish and community by presenting trophies to the young kids during Peadar’s Summer Camp, and gave plenty of helpful advice to them on how to succeed in sport. His sudden passing has left a huge shock in the Community. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam.

TEAM 100:

With sporting activities resuming the club grounds, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.

This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.

Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.

Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.

Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for an application form to join Team 100.

UNDER 11 HURLING:

The U11 hurlers welcomed Ballyduff Lower to the grounds last Friday evening for their opening league game of the season. A fine game of hurling saw Ferrybank edge out the visitors on a scoreline of 1-06 to 1-04.

Ferrybank had to battle all the way for this win, with Ballyduff testing the defence throughout the game, but the team held out for a great win, playing some nice hurling all round.

Thanks to Ballyduff Lower for a sporting game, and to referee Robbie Dunne in playing his part. TEAM: Brooklyn, M Culleton, D Kelly, T McGee, J Swift, O Smith, L Tyler, J Power, C Kelly, M Power, J Hayes, A Heffernan, C Baldwin.

UNDER 9 HURLING:

Our U9 hurlers made the trip to play Ballygunner last Saturday. Played in good weather conditions, both sides fielded two teams, and both sides did not disappoint the supporters, with plenty of skills and striking being shown, with some fine scores taken. Thanks to Ballygunner for being excellent hosts.

Training continues for the team (with new members most welcome born in 2014) on Thursday 6:30pm/7:30pm & Saturdays 10am/11am.

COUNTY DUTY:

Hard luck to Shane Oates and the Waterford U20 Football team that were defeated by Limerick in the Munster Championship on Easter Monday. Shane lined out at corner back for the team on the day.
