ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

BENEFIT NIGHT:

It is just under a week to go for the club’s annual benefit night, which takes place on Saturday, March 4th at Kilcohan Park. We would ask everyone associated with the club to go out and support this vital fundraiser.

Tickets are currently available and cost €10, with Under 16s admitted free. Tickets can be purchased in the following locations; Colin Molloys Butchers Shop, Bloom Cafe, Abbey Road, Mandarin Palace Bar & Restaurant, Coffee By King (GAA Grounds), Declan Howard 087 939 3818 and also from the club grounds this coming Saturday morning, March 4th from 10am to 12 noon. All tickets brought from the club, ensures that the money stays in the club’s funds, so we once again ask everyone to come out and show your support.

Once again, the main gate prize has been kindly sponsored by Sean Power and his staff at Harvey Travel, Gladstone St., which is a weekend away for two in the four-star Castlerosse Hotel, Killarney, including 2 nights B&B and 1 evening meal, plus many more spot prizes on offer.

On the night itself, there will be a free bus service to and from the track. The bus will leave from the Grotto at 6:30pm to ensure people will get there in time for the first race. So overall, a great night is assured, and we look forward to seeing everyone there on the night.

UNDER 12 CAMOGIE:

The U12 Camogie side are now back in training mode for the coming year, and training times are Tuesdays from 5:30pm- 6:30pm and Fridays from 5pm to 6pm. Please note, there is no training on a Saturday morning.

All new members are welcome to come down, get involved, and enjoy themselves, with full coaching provided. If anyone requires further information, please contact Karen 087 669 1523.

UNDER 8 CAMOGIE:

The U8 Camogie squad were back on the field last Saturday morning, where they were put through their paces. The team welcomed Farah into the squad, where another excellent player has been added. The girls played a match among themselves, which saw them displaying their skills in striking, soloing, blocking, and rising. This certainly impressed the coaches and mentors during the session, and it will put them in good fettle for the coming season. Training continues on Saturday mornings at 11am, and new members are welcome to attend.

UNDER 6/7/8 HURLING TRAINING:

The Boys Under 6/7/8 train in the alley on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm to 7pm. The team and mentors welcomed Alfie to the squad, and in that hour, the boys had a fun, friendly, frantic training session, learning the skills and drills of the game.

If you would like to get your child involved, please contact Seamie 086 879 7649.

MEMBERSHIP:

It is that time of the year again, where membership is now due, and we would ask all players to pay their subs ASAP. Adults €80, Students/unemployed €40.

COUNTY DUTY:

Well done to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford Senior Camogie team that recorded a second consecutive win in the National League last Saturday afternoon, defeating near-neighbours Wexford at Gracedieu.

Next up is another home match next Saturday, March 4th at 2pm against Limerick. Also, well done to Camogie Coach Karen O' Connor representing the Club in the M.N.A. (Motivate, Nurture, Aspire) in Thurles. This is an initiative from the Camogie association to increase the numbers of women and girls participating in sport.

CLOTHES COLLECTION:

The clothes collection has now resumed for the year ahead, with many people now beginning a spring clean. If you have any of the following items that you don’t require;

-          Clothes

-          Curtains

-          Paired Shoes

-          Belts

you can drop them down to the club grounds on Saturday and Sunday morning from 10 am to 12 noon. Once again, we appeal to the public NOT TO SEND DOWN ANY PILLOWS OR DUVETS PLEASE.

TEAM 100:

With sporting activities resuming the club grounds, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.

This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.

Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.

Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.

Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for more details on how to join Team 100.

WIN A HOUSE IN DUNGARVAN DRAW:

Tickets are still available for anyone interested in entering the ‘Win a house in Dungarvan’ competition currently being run by Waterford GAA. The overall winner will be given the option of choosing a brand new three-bed house in Abbeyside, Dungarvan, or a very attractive cash alternative of €340k.
