ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

A.G.M.

Last Monday, the club’s A.G.M. took place. It saw Martin Freeman elected as Chairperson. Marty will bring plenty of experience to the job as a player, coach and manager of a number of underage teams, as well as being involved in our Intermediate and Junior adult teams and County Underage teams over the last number of years.

Marty replaces Nicky Heffernan who steps down after 10+ years of fantastic work, and left no stone unturned in the development of the club in that period of time, which saw many projects completed under his stewardship. We wish Marty the best of luck for the year ahead, and also to the elected committee.

ANNUAL BENEFIT NIGHT:

The club’s annual benefit night will once again take place on Saturday, March 4th in Kilcohan Park, with the first race starting at 7:50pm.

Tickets for the night are currently on sale at €10 and can be purchased from Coffee by King (located at the GAA Grounds), Colin Molloy Butchers Shop and Declan Howard 087 939 3818. We would ask everyone associated with the club to support this night out, and all tickets sold by the club goes back into the club’s funds to support the day-to-day expenses.

Once again, the club will run the popular dog nomination, where you can nominate a dog for €10, and if it is successful on the night, you will win a nice €30. Nominations can be purchased from Robbie Carew 085 207 4288. There is also an opportunity to win a weekend away in the four-star Castlerosse hotel in Killarney, which once again, has been kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel, Gladstone St., and a huge thanks to Sean Power and his staff for this prize.

Also, there will be a courtesy bus to transfer all patrons going to and from the track on the night.

TEAM 100:

With sporting activities resuming the club grounds, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.

This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.

Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.

Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.

Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for more details on how to join Team 100.
