ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

A.G.M.:

On Monday, February 13th (tonight) at 7:30pm, the club’s A.G.M. will take place in the Boys’ National School. Everyone is welcome to come along and attend, particularly new members, who would like to get involved in any capacity of the club. With the new club house beginning to take shape, this is a crucial year for the club, and your say is vital to ensure it keeps going in the right direction. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the night.

PREMIER INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

The new Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship will commence this year. Ferrybank have been drawn alongside Ballygunner, Clashmore/Kinsalebeg and Ballysaggart. There are two groups of four teams, with each team playing three league games, and depending where you finish in the group, your opponent in the quarter-finals will either be Tramore, Ballyduff Lower, Cappoquin or Shamrocks. No fixture dates have been confirmed as of yet.

UNDER 8 CAMOGIE:

There was another excellent turnout on Saturday morning which saw 25 girls being put through their paces in the hurling alley on a good morning for training. It also saw another three new recruits make their debuts, and a warm welcome to Victoria, Malea and Moloney, and no doubt they will make excellent additions to the squad.

Training continues on Saturday morning from 11 am to 12 pm, and, as always, new members are most welcome to come along and join in. Thanks to the trainers and mentors for all their help and assistance.

UNDER 12 CAMOGIE:

The U12 Camogie team are also back in the field, and training takes place on Thursdays at 6:30pm and Saturday mornings at 10am, where new members are welcome to come down and enjoy the skills of our national game.

CAMOGIE CAMP:

Waterford Camogie are running a midterm camp for girls aged between 8 to 14 on Thursday, February 16th and Friday, February 17th from 10 am to 1 pm at Mount Sion’s GAA grounds. The cost is €25, and full details and the link to register can be found at https://www.collectit.ie/waterfordcamogie/product/mid-term-camogie-camp/

COUNTY DUTY:

Best of luck to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford Senior Camogie team who begin their National League campaign with a trip to Birr to play Offaly on Saturday, February 18th at 2pm.

ANNUAL BENEFIT NIGHT:

The club’s annual benefit night will once again take place on Saturday, March 4th in Kilcohan Park, with the first race starting at 7:50pm.

Tickets for the night are currently on sale at €10 and can be purchased from Coffee by King (located at the GAA Grounds), Colin Molloy Butchers Shop and Declan Howard 087 939 3818. We would ask everyone associated with the club to support this night out, and all tickets sold by the club goes back into the club’s funds to support the day-to-day expenses.

Once again, the club will run the popular dog nomination, where you can nominate a dog for €10, and if it is successful on the night, you will win a nice €30. Nominations can be purchased from Robbie Carew 085 207 4288. There is also an opportunity to win a weekend away in the four star Castlerosse hotel in Killarney, which once again, has been kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel, Gladstone St., and a huge thanks to Sean Power and his staff for this prize.

Also, there will be a courtesy bus to transfer all patrons going to and from the track on the night.

TEAM 100:

With sporting activities resuming the club grounds, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.

This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.

Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community. Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for information on how to join Team 100.
