ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

JUNIOR FOOTBALL:

Our Junior Footballers made it two wins from two in this year’s Tony Kirwan Plant Hire Eastern Junior A Championship with a 1-12 to 0-10 win over Fenor last Sunday afternoon, and therefore qualified for the semi-finals. A crucial goal from the spot from Kevin Hurley in the opening half, and points from MJ Sutton, Luke Flynn and Cormac O’ Driscoll saw the team lead by 1-08 to 0-02 at the break. Despite a purple patch from the homeside in the second half, which yielded five points on the spin, Ferrybank ran out worthy winners in the end.

Opponents for the semi-final will be known after next week’s games.

UNDER 14 HURLING:

The combined Ferrybank/St. Saviours combined team will play away to Clonea this coming Tuesday, October 4th at 6pm in the Tramore Construction and Maintenance sponsored competition, and all support will be welcome on the night.

UNDER 7 BLITZ:

Our U7 hurlers made the trip to Gracedieu on Sunday to play in a blitz, along with the hosts De La Salle, Mooncoin, James Stephens, and Blackwater. With 22 players reporting for duty, Ferrybank had two teams represented. On a good morning for the game, yet again, the players gave another excellent account of themselves, playing with fierce determination, and ensuring their opponents in each match had a fight on their hands, showing great skills, and passing the ball to each other, which left the coaches and mentors pleased at the end.

Well done everyone, and thanks to De La Salle for being excellent hosts. Training continues on Wednesday and Fridays at 6pm, and on Saturday mornings at 10am.

TEAM: Logan, Mason, Caelan, Zoey, David, Freddie, Jamie, Bobby, Tiernan, Amy, Saoirse J., Harry, Conor, Zac, Cody, Sam, Hugo, Ben, Killian, Layla, Amar, Lingwei.

WELL!KIDS:

The final session of the Well!Kids programme finished up last Saturday morning, with good weather conditions for all taking part. Over the past few months, the children have enjoyed themselves with the fun-filled activities that have taken place in the GAA grounds. Thanks to all the parents for their help in bringing the kids to the field, and a special word of thanks to Kevin and Clodagh for all the hard work they have put into this popular programme each and every week, which was very much appreciated.

DÉISE DRAW:

The sixth and final Déise Draw of 2022 will take place this coming Wednesday, October 5th. Let’s hope we can sign off the season with a couple of winners on the night. Again, Ferrybank GAA club would like to thank everyone who have purchased tickets throughout the season, as this has been the club’s biggest source of income, with each ticket purchased seeing the club retain 70% of the sale. Best of luck to everyone.

TEAM 100:

Ferrybank GAA club is embarking upon its biggest capital development project in its history. With the recent upsurge in underage numbers (particularly females), this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider Ferrybank community far into the future. This project will deliver a new building consisting of modern dressing rooms and a community-orientated multipurpose room for all.

Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking and the initial enabling works for this new project. To join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community, please talk to any committee member, team mentor, or email ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for more details.
