COUNTY DUTY:
Well done to Iona Heffernan, Doxer Burns (Coach) and the Waterford Senior Camogie team on their excellent victory in the All-Ireland Championship over Tipperary last Sunday.
With two wins from three games so far, the team have put themselves into a good position to qualify for the knockout stages. Next up for the team is a home game in two weeks’ time against table-toppers Cork.
Also, well done to Valerie O' Brien who played for the Waterford Junior team that recorded a narrow one-point win over Mayo last Saturday afternoon at the SETU Waterford Arena. A feature of the game saw the Ferrybank U10 Camogie side playing at half-time against Ballyduff Lower, and putting in a great effort, despite the dreadful weather conditions.
UNDER 7 BLITZ:
Our U7 hurlers travelled to Glenmore last Saturday morning to play in a blitz hosted by the home club. With 18 players available for duty, the boys and girls did not disappoint as they put in a superb effort in each of their five games against Blacks & Whites, Ballyhale, Tullogher, Carrickshock and the Rower/Inistioge, winning all five games on the day, showing great skills, work rate, and playing as a team throughout each game.
Credit to coaches Seamie and Barry who have put in a huge effort with the squad since January and all the hard work is beginning to pay dividends on the field, no doubt, the future bodes well with this young group of stars.
Thanks to Glenmore for being excellent hosts on the day.
TEAM: Harry, Connor, Jamie, Sam, Logan, Tiernan, Caelan, Hugo, Zoey, Zac, Ben, Killian, Bobby, Amar, Alex, Layla, Saoirse, Lingwei.
MOTHERS & OTHERS:
The Mothers & Others played Slieverue in a challenge game last Wednesday. It was the team’s first game of the year for the side. They put in a great effort on the night, and this game will bring them on, as they prepare for their upcoming blitz in a couple of weeks’ time in Mallow.
After the game, both sets of players had a well-earned cuppa, which was kindly supplied by Coffee by King.
EXAMS/CONFIRMATION:
Best of luck to everyone who will commence the Junior and Leaving Cert exams this coming Wednesday. While congratulations to the children in the two Primary schools who were confirmed last week.
