ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:

The combined Ferrybank/St. Saviours side recorded a fine win over St. Patricks in Colligan last Monday, April 4th, on a scoreline of 1-07 to 1-03.

The lads were however defeated last night, April 11th, by St. Marys; 2-09 to 1-06. Nonetheless, the team remains well in the hunt for the knockout stages of the competition.

UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:

The combined Ferrybank/Sacred Heart side went down narrowly to Brickey Rangers last Wednesday on a scoreline of 2-07 to 2-05. A big week is coming up for the team as this coming Wednesday, April 13th, the side plays The Nire in Poleberry at 6:30pm, while on Saturday, April 16th, they travel to Portlaw with an 11am throw-in. All support is welcome.

UNDER 11 HURLING:

Our U11 hurlers went down in their opening game in the City League against Ballyduff Lower last Monday. A battling display from the young team, who kept going until the final whistle.

The team enjoyed a one-point win over De La Salle in Gracedieu last night, so well done to all involved.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

Our Intermediate Hurlers opened their All-County Hurling League campaign with a good win over An Rinn last Sunday, winning on a scoreline of 6-22 to 3-16.

This was a good entertaining game, with Ferrybank clinical in front of the goal. Next up is a home game this coming Friday, April 15th, against Modeligo at 7pm.

UNDER 14 CAMOGIE:

Our Under 14 Camogie started their season with a challenge game against De La Salle last Thursday evening. A good display from the girls throughout the game, where they worked and battled hard for one another. Keep up the good work.

CLUB NURSERY:

Training for 4 to 7 year olds takes place on Friday evenings from 5:45pm to 6:45pm. Since the start of the year, excellent numbers have been turning up to play, and it is great to see the interest form the boys and girls. Each week has seen new faces coming down to join in, and everyone is still more than welcome to come along and participate in the fun.

PEADAR’S SUMMER CAMP:

Peadar’s Summer Camp will take place on Monday, July 18th. It is open to boys and girls aged between 5 and 15 years old, learning all the skills of our national game. Prior to the start of the summer camp, a benefit night will be held in the Briar Rose on Friday, July 8th, in which all proceeds raised will go towards the cost of running the camp.

ANGELA BURNS 10K RUN/WALK:

The Angela Burns Memorial 10k Fun Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, May 29th, at 11am from the club’s grounds. Following 2 years of postponements, hopefully it will be third time lucky, where everyone will be able to get together and Run or Walk whatever they decide to do.

Once again, this event is kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel in Gladstone St., and thanks to Sean Power and his staff for their continued sponsorship of this event.

So, with the bright evenings in full swing, now is the time to get out and about to prepare for this community event. Keep the date in the diary folks.

CLOTHING COLLECTION:

The clothing collection is continuing. If you have any of the following items, drop them down to the GAA grounds;

- Clothes

- Paired Shoes

- Belts

Please do NOT send down any DUVETS OR PILLOWS.

Bags can be left at the entrance to the club's grounds on a weeknight or between 10 am and 11 am on Saturday mornings.
