ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:

Ferrybank/Sacred Heart combined side recorded a good win away to St. Saviours last Wednesday, winning on a scoreline of 3-03 to 0-04. This was the team’s first win in the competition, and next up is a trip to Bushy Park to play Brickey Rangers on Wednesday, April 6th at 7pm

UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:

Ferrybank/St. Saviours had a good win over De La Salle last Monday, running out 4-05 to 2-03 winners. A good competitive match with very little to separate both sides over the course of the match. Next up is tonight (Monday, April 4th) with a trip to Colligan to play St. Patricks at 6:45pm.

UNDER 11 HURLING:

Its City League action this evening (Monday, April 4th), with Ferrybank playing their opening game against Ballyduff Lower in Ferrybank at 6pm.

UNDER 12 HURLING:

Our Under 12 hurlers begin their action this coming Sunday, April 10th with a home game against Clonea at 10am in the City League.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

The Intermediate hurlers are at home to An Rinn this coming Saturday, April 9th at 4pm in their opening game in the All-County Hurling League.

NURSERY GROUP:

It was a very busy weekend for the Nursery Group, with another bumper turnout out on the Friday night slot, which is on from 5:45pm to 6:45pm, with new faces coming along and joining in.

Last Saturday morning, our Under 7 boys and girls travelled out to Carriganore to play in the Waterford blitz, in which we had two teams competing. With a very young age profile all the way down to 5 years of age, this didn’t deter the side, as they put in a superb performance showing excellent skills, creating chances, and scoring plenty of goals in the matches.

A good display all round from the team, and no doubt the coaches/mentors will have been pleased with the performances. Special word of thanks to Paul Westwood of Ferrybank Barbers, which is based on the Abbey Road Retail Park for sponsoring the team in the blitz.

Our Under 8 Camogie trains every Saturday morning at 10am, and it was great to see some new faces coming down and getting involved with the group.

COUNTY DUTY:

Congratulations to the Waterford Senior Hurling team on capturing the Allianz League Division 1 trophy last Saturday evening in Thurles, while hard luck to the Waterford Senior Camogie side that were defeated by Wexford in the Littlewoods Camogie Division 2 semi-final in Carlow last Sunday afternoon, which included Doxer Burns (coach) and players Iona Heffernan, Niamh Ahearne, and Valerie O' Brien.

Best of luck to Shane Ahearne (Manager) and the Waterford Minor Hurlers in tomorrow evening's (Tuesday, April 5th) opening round of the Munster Championship against Tipperary in Fraher Field at 7pm.

PEADAR’S SUMMER CAMP:

The Peadar’s Summer Camp will take place on Monday, July 18th. It is open to boys and girls aged between 5 and 15 years old, learning all the skills of our national game. Prior to the start of the summer camp, a benefit night will be held in the Briar Rose on Friday, July 8th, in which all proceeds raised will go towards the cost of running the camp.
