ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

 JUNIOR FOOTBALL:

No joy for the Junior Footballers last Saturday in Fenor, as they were defeated by favourites Mount Sion in the Tony Kirwan Plant Hire Eastern final on a scoreline of 0-12 to 0-3. Despite being competitive for the majority of the game, Mount Sion pulled away in the final quarter to run out worthy winners.

Shane Oates opened the scoring with a well taken point in the opening minutes, but Mount Sion levelled up with a free. From then on, the game was tight, but crucially, despite having good possession, Ferrybank were unable to get scores and missed a goal opportunity, along with a few wides in addition. Just before half-time, Mount Sion began to get a grip on things, and took advantage of taking their scores with four unanswered points to lead 0-05 to 0-01 at the break.

Ferrybank started the second-half well, but crucially hit five wides on the trot, and these misses once again proved vital as Mount Sion took their chances when they got them by hitting over three points. However, the lads kept plugging away, and points from MJ Sutton and Mark O' Brien gave the lads hope as they reduced the gap to five entering the last quarter.

However, Mount Sion proved stronger, and tagged over four more points to run out winners. The lads gave it their best shot on the day, and missing a few scores which would have brought them closer over the sixty minutes.

Final score - Ferrybank 0-03 Mount Sion 0-12

UNDER 6 HURLING:

Another excellent turnout for the U6s last Saturday morning, where over 30 boys and girls were out and about enjoying an action packed fun-filled morning. It was great to see some new faces joining the group, and the numbers keep getting bigger and better all the time.

Special praise to all the mentors, who keep all the children on their toes week-in, week-out, and it’s beginning to pay dividends. As usual, new members are most welcome to come along, and learn all the skills. Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday mornings at 10 am.

DÉISE DRAW:

We had no winner in the latest Déise Draw which took place last Wednesday night. The final draw of 2021 will take place on Wednesday, December 1st. Again, a huge thanks to all, who have purchased tickets during the year.
