UNDER 15 HURLING:
It’s a big week for the U15 hurlers as they're in quarter-final action this coming Wednesday, July 21st at 7 pm against De La Salle in Ferrybank. No doubt, a stiff test awaits the team, but the lads can go into the game with plenty of confidence following a good league campaign. Your support will be welcomed on the night.
UNDER 17 HURLING:
Ferrybank/St. Saviour’s combined side were defeated by De La Salle last Thursday night in their latest league game on a scoreline of 3-11 to 2-08.
This a good display from the side, who kept battling away all the way to the end. An early goal from Richie Sinnott got the team off to a good start, and they matched their opponents throughout the opening half, with solid defending from Adam, Shane and Bobby. Up front, points from Izaak Richards (4) and Daniel Griffin ensured a 1-05 to 0-05 lead at the break.
Crucially, De La Salle increased the tempo in the second-half, and hit Ferrybank/St. Saviour’s with three goals in as many minutes to open up a lead. Nonetheless, the lads kept battling away with points from Izaak Richards and Ruadhri McGarrity. A second goal arrived soon after with Ritchie Sinnott getting rewarded for his night’s work with a well taken goal, following a good run from Ruadhri.
The team can take great heart from the game with some solid displays throughout the field, and next up is a match against Ballygunner on Thursday, July 22nd in St. Saviours’ ground at 7:30pm.
TEAM: Kyle Daly, Caolan MacCathmhaoil, Adam Aspel, Bobby Jacob, Daniel Griffin, Ben Boland, Shane Purcell, Izaak Richards, Darragh Jacob, Jordan Murphy, Ruadhri McGarrity, Darragh Corcoran, Finn McGarrity, Richard Sinnott, Oisin Taylor, Luke English.
UNDER 12 HURLING:
Our U12 Hurlers are back in action this coming Saturday, July 24th with a trip to play Ballygunner at 4:30pm.
UNDER 13 HURLING:
Our U13 hurlers had a useful run out last Friday with a game against Bunmahon. The lads worked hard in very warm conditions, taking some good scores along the way, and this game will have benefited the team, as they prepare for the knockout action, which more than likely be played next week, with the opponents yet to be confirmed.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate Hurlers play Erin’s Own this coming Friday, July 23rd at 7:30pm at Walsh Park in the Division 3 All-County Hurling League Final.
JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior hurlers had a useful workout against Mount Sion last Friday. A young squad in the making, the team played well, and this game will have brought them on a lot.
COUNTY DUTY:
It was a busy week for some of our hurlers representing the County over the last week. Hard luck to Ryan Tierney and the Waterford Under 20 side that were defeated by Tipperary in Thurles last Monday night.
Also, hard luck to Helen Connolly and the Waterford Minor Camogie team that were defeated by Clare last Tuesday night in the Shield Final.
Well done to Iona Heffernan and John Burns who were part of the Waterford Senior Camogie team’s win over Down last Saturday afternoon in Walsh Park, and now play away to Dublin next Saturday.
Lastly, well done to Mark O' Brien and the Waterford Senior hurling team that defeated Laois in Nowlan Park last Saturday afternoon, and will also be back in action next weekend against Galway.
MOTHERS & OTHERS:
The Mothers & Others Ladies’ Football team are back in training on Monday nights from 8 to 9 pm. New members are most welcome to come along and get involved.
DÉISE DRAW:
The 2021 Déise Draw will commence on July 27th and will run until December, with six draws taking place. Each draw will cost €15, and once again, similar to last year, there will be twenty cash prizes up for grabs, with the top prize €10,000.
Again, we would appeal to everyone associated with the club to get involved and purchase a Déise Draw ticket for the year ahead, as 70% of the ticket sales are retained by the club, and this money goes towards the day-to-day running of the club.
