Our U13 hurlers made the trip to An Rinn last Friday evening in their latest league game to play An Ghaeltacht (An Rinn and Sean Phobail combined). It was a poor night for the game with rain and misty conditions, making visibility quite hard.
The lads played with the elements in the opening half, and started off well with good points. However, crucially, An Ghaeltacht were able to score a couple of goals in reply, undoing all the hard work at the other end, and narrowly led by 2-5 to 3-0 at the break.
The second-half was a more even affair, with the team holding up well in defence, and leading by three points entering the closing stages, one last attack from the home side resulted in a goal, and ensuring the game ended all square on a scoreline of Ferrybank 3-07 An Ghaeltacht 5-01.
A good battling display from the team, and this point earned ensured the lads topped their group. It’s now onto the knockout stages next, with a quarter-final match scheduled to take place on the July 19th with their opponents yet to be confirmed.
A huge thanks to all the parents, who made the journey on a damp evening to support the lads. TEAM: Tommy, Conor, Jacob, Jack W, Mark F, Rian, Rory, Max, Luke, Jack H, Finn, Alex, Sam, Harry, Adam, Mark.
UNDER 15 HURLING:
The U15 hurlers made the trip to Ballymacaraby last Wednesday night to play Fourmilewater in their final league match. Following a ding-dong battle, Ferrybank emerged winners on a 6-09 to 3-16 scoreline over the home side.
Goals from Conor Haley (2), Jay Bagge (2), Adam Aspel, and Lochlann Flanagan were crucial, as the lads had to dig deep for this win against a side who never gave up.
With four wins from their five league matches, Ferrybank finished second in the group behind Tramore, and now go into quarter-final action shortly, with their opponents yet to be confirmed.
UNDER 17 HURLING:
The combined Ferrybank/St. Saviour’s side had a good win in the Minor Hurling League last Thursday night in Passage, winning on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-12.
Next up for the sides is a game against De La Salle this coming Thursday July 15th at 7:30pm in Ferrybank.
COUNTY DUTY:
Best of luck to Ryan Tierney and the
Waterford U20 hurlers in Semple Stadium this evening (July 12th)
against Tipperary in the Munster Championship. The game is live on TG4, and throw-in is at 8:05pm.
DÉISE DRAW:
The 2021 Déise Draw will commence on July 27th and will run until December, with six draws taking place. Each draw will cost €15, and once again, similar to last year, there will be twenty cash prizes up for grabs, with the top prize €10,000.
Again, we would appeal to everyone associated with the club to get involved and purchase a Déise Draw ticket for the year ahead, as 70% of the ticket sales are retained by the club, and this money goes towards the day-to-day running of the club.
