The lads also enjoyed a 4-13 to 4-07 win against Ardmore on Monday just gone.

MINOR FOOTBALL:

The Ferrybank/St. Saviour’s combined side were defeated by St. Mary’s last Thursday night in the Minor Football league on a scoreline of 2-09 to 1-06.

This coming Thursday, June 24th, the team is back in action, where they play Gaultier in Ballybeg, and all support will be appreciated.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

The Intermediate hurlers recorded a good win over Portlaw last Friday night in the All-County hurling league, winning on a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-17.

The lads made a good start to the game, and quickly opened up a five point lead by the end of the first water-break, with Darryl Griffin (0-02), John Ahern, Robbie Carew and Oisín MacCathmhaoil contributing to the scoreboard.

Portlaw came a lot more into the game after the water-break, and reduced the gap to two points. However, just on the blow of the half-time whistle, Cormac Heffernan received a pass from Ryan Tierney, and slotted the ball to the net from close range to leave it 1-09 to 0-07.

A strong start to the second-half from Portlaw saw them hit five unanswered points to level it up, but the lads weathered the storm, and points from Luke Flynn, Robbie Carew and Jo-Jo O’ Driscoll ensured the team held a slender lead entering the final quarter of the game. Ferrybank regained control of the game, with the defence holding firm, further points from Cormac Heffernan, Oisín MacCathmhaoil and Robbie Carew saw Ferrybank run out worthy winners on the night.

Next up for the team is a home match against Ardmore this Saturday, June 26th at 7pm.

COUNTY DUTY:

It was contrasting fortunes for our Camogie teams last weekend, as it was hard luck to Doxer Burns and Iona Heffernan, who were part of the Senior Camogie set-up that were narrowly defeated by Dublin in Birr last Saturday afternoon by a point.

While well done to Niamh Ahearne and Valerie O’ Brien who were part of the Junior Camogie team that defeated Down, also last Saturday afternoon.

Best of luck to Mark O' Brien and the Waterford Senior hurling team that travel to Thurles this coming Sunday to take on Clare in the Munster Senior Hurling quarter-final.
