MINOR FOOTBALL:
No joy for the Minor Footballers as they were defeated by a very good An Gaeltacht side last Thursday night in the County semi-final at Fraher Field. Despite opening the scoring with two points through Ruaidhri McGarrity and Shane Purcell, An Gaeltacht hit the lads with two quick goals. Shane Oates got a goal back when his long ball evaded everyone and ended up in the net to give the lads hope. However, An Gaeltacht’s forward line was causing Ferrybank’s defence problems with their movement, and scored a flurry of goals and points before the half-time whistle to put them into a commanding lead.
After a number of positional switches, Ferrybank improved a lot in the second-half with Shane Oates finding the net, and some fine points from Richard Lapitte gave the lads some hope. Nonetheless, An Gaeltacht came on strong in the final quarter, scoring points at will to book a place in the final.
The lads gave it their all, but were second best on the night, and thanks to Cormac, Brian, Greg, Pat, John and Nicky for all their help.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Our Junior Footballers recorded a comfortable win over St. Pauls last Friday night, and in doing so, kept their hopes alive of a place in the knockout stages.
Over the hour, the lads scored a number of good goals and points against a St. Pauls side who kept battling away. Things will get a bit tougher for the lads this coming Friday, September 11th at 6:15pm, where they play Roanmore in Ferrybank, in a game the lads will need to win.
UNDER 15 HURLING:
Our U15 hurlers are in quarter-final action this coming Wednesday, September 9th at 6:15pm where they play Portlaw/Ballyduff in Ferrybank. Best of luck lads.
