ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

Our Intermediate hurlers will play Ballyduff Lower this coming Saturday, August 8th at 6pm in Fenor, in the quarter-finals of the Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs sponsored competition.

Having recorded a good win in the last round, another stiff test awaits the team against a Ballyduff Lower team that contested the semi-finals of this competition for the last two years. Best of luck to John and his team.

JUNIOR HURLING:

Our Junior hurlers are also in quarter-final action this coming Thursday, August 6th at 6:45pm with a home match against Ballyduff Lower.

The team finished second in the group, having defeated St. Saviours last Friday night on a scoreline of 4-17 to 3-08. Despite trailing at the break, Ferrybank aided by the breeze, pulled away in the second-half to comfortably win the game. Best of luck to Stan and the players.

CAMOGIE:

The Intermediate Camogie team made the long trip to play An Rinn last Saturday evening, and despite leading for long periods were pipped by a point on a scoreline of 0-13 to 2-06.

Trailing by four points in the opening exchanges, Ferrybank came back and lead by 1-05 to 0-7 at the break. With the wind behind them An Rinn began to put on the pressure, but Ferrybank kept plugging away, and two points in the final five minutes gave the homeside a narrow win, despite a late chance for Ferrybank, when the ball hit the side netting. Next up for the Camogie team is a home game against Modeligo on Saturday, August 15th at 6:30pm.

UNDER 17 HURLING:

No joy for a very young U17 side last Saturday afternoon, as they were well defeated by Sacred Heart in Poleberry. With only a couple of players up to the age, the team were always going to be up against it against a very useful Sacred Heart side.

The homeside built up a big lead with the breeze in the opening half, despite the accuracy of Izaak Richards trailled by 1-15 to 0-5. An early chance to get back into the match went a begging, as Ferrybank missed a penalty, but they kept plugging away, and a goal from Shane Oates, and point from Pawel was all they could get in the second half. Caolan in goal pulled off some good saves, while Adam and Lee worked hard in defence.

UNDER 13 HURLING:

Our U13 hurlers made it two from two with a good win away to Passage last Monday night on a scoreline of 2-7 to 1-7. The lads also recorded a comprehensive win over Clan Na Gael this evening (August 3rd).

UNDER 12 HURLING:

No luck for the U12 last Friday evening, defeated by a good Portlaw side. Let’s hope they can resume winning ways next Friday, August 7th away to De La Salle at 5:30pm.
