JUNIOR HURLING:
No joy for the Junior hurlers last Thursday night as they
were defeated by Butlerstown in their latest game in the Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs
championship. The team was severely depleted going into the game, with a lot of
young players lining out, but the home side were far too superior on the night
and ran out easy winners.
UNDER 15 HURLING:
Our U15 hurlers next outing will take place on Tuesday July
9th at 7pm, with a trip to Leamybrien to take on Kilrossanty.
UNDER 13 HURLING:
The U13 hurlers were edged out in their opening game in
Division 1 of this year’s championship, going down to St. Carthages on a score-line
of 2-07 to 2-04. Missing a number of key players going into the game, the lads
put in a great effort, and were unlucky not to get a share of the spoils.
There was little to choose between the sides in the opening
half with Conor Haley the chief scorer with 1-03, and Jay Bagge scoring a fine
point to leave the sides 1-04 each at the break.
The second-half was end to end, with both sides creating
chances. Crucially however, the men from Lismore/ Ballysaggart kept taking
their scores, and got a second goal to put daylight between the sides. Following
this, Michael McLawrence, in the goal, had just puled off a fantastic save to
keep his side in the game. However, credit to the side, with Adam Aspel, Conor
Daly and Sean Akewami driving the team on, they were rewarded with a second
goal, when Conor Haley scored from a close range following good build up play.
The team can take heart from this game, and next up is a
trip to Modeligo to play Naomh Brid on Monday July 8th at 7pm.
UNDER 12 HURLING:
Its City League action this coming Friday July 5th
at 6:30pm for the U12 hurlers with a home game against Carrickshock, and your
support will be welcomed.
DÉISE DRAW:
We had no winner in the June Déise Draw which took place
last Wednesday night in Ardmore. Thanks to all who purchased tickets for the
draw. The next draw takes place on Friday July 31st in Lismore.
COUNTY DUTY:
Hard luck to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford Senior team
that were narrowly defeated by Tipperary in Nowlan Park last Saturday afternoon
in the Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship.
SPEEDY RECOVERY:
We would like to wish Jack Haley a speedy recovery from an
injury he received last Thursday night in the Junior hurling match; let’s hope
he will be back in action in the very near future.

KEEP WATERFORD
BEAUTIFUL:
A huge thanks to all who came along to the GAA grounds last
Tuesday night and helped out in the Tom Murphy Car Sales & Granville Hotel initiative
in keeping Waterford beautiful. The volunteers played their part in the street
clean up from the GAA grounds to the Dock road, and all should be commended for
giving their time up and playing their part.
