JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior hurlers begin their campaign this coming Friday
night, April 26th with a trip to play Butlerstown at 7:30pm. The
team had a useful run out last Saturday afternoon against Mount Sion and let’s
hope they can make a winning start. Please come along and support the team.
UNDER 11 HURLING:
Our Under 11 hurlers lost their unbeaten record last Friday
night, going down in a 10 goal thriller against Roanmore in the City League.
The damage was done in the opening half, as Roanmore hit the ground running and
built up a 4-04 to 0-00 lead at the break.
However, the lads rolled up their sleeves and began to claw
their way back into the game, scoring goals, but time went against them, and
Roanmore held on for a 5-05 to 5-01 win.
Hard luck to the team, but well done on a super comeback.
TEAM: Conor, Luke, Jacob, Gavin, Finn, Jack, Robbie, Harry,
Rian, Sam, Mark, Michal, Daniel, Max, Tommy.
Next up for the U11 team is a home game against Carrigeen on
Friday, May 3rd at 6:30pm.
UNDER 12 HURLING:
Our U12s are back in action this coming Friday night, April
26th with a home game against De La Salle at 6:30pm. Your support
will be welcomed on the night.
COUNTY DUTY:
Congratulations to Ruaraidhri McGarrity and the East
Waterford Under 15 hurling team who prevailed in the Gleeson Cup defeating near
neighbours West Waterford in Bushy Park last Saturday. This was a fine game of
hurling, with some excellent scores by both teams, played on a fine evening,
with the East team just shading the game in the end on a score-line of 2-19 to
4-12.
UNDER 14 FÉILE
HURLING:
Last Thursday night, a very young Under 14 team made the
trip to Mount Sion to compete in this year’s Féile. The opening game was
against the hosts Mount Sion, and despite a slow start in which Mount Sion
built up an early lead, the lads battled hard, and put up a courageous display
throughout the game in which the hosts ran out worthy winners.
Ferrybank didn’t have long to hang around, and next up was a
physically stronger Portlaw/Ballyduff team. Straight from the off, Ferrybank
battled man for man, and even though three points down at the break, this didn’t
deter the side, who turned in a brilliant second-half display, and emerged
winners by 0-06 to 0-05.
Well done to all, and the selectors were proud of the
fighting spirit, illustrated in the game, and it bodes very well for the future
of this very young team. Well done lads, you did Ferrybank proud.
DÉISE DRAW:
This coming Wednesday night will see the opening 2019 Déise Draw
