ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers will now play their opening game in this year’s Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs sponsored competition this coming Saturday, April 13th at 3pm in Dunhill, where they play Butlerstown. Your support will be appreciated on the day.

UNDER 11 HURLING:
Our U11 hurlers got their championship off to a flying start last Friday night, where the boys made the trip to Ballyduff Lower, and came away with a fine win on a score-line of 5-08 to 2-01.
From the start, Ferrybank hit the ground running, and got their scores at vital stages of the game, with the defence not giving a lot away on the day. Well done to all, and next game is on Friday, April 19th at 6:30pm with a home game against Roanmore B.
Team: Sam, Liam, Aidan, Gavin, Conor, Luke, Rian, Max, Daniel, Tommy, Finn, Jacob, Rory, Even, Jack, Harry, Robbie, Michael.

UNDER 12 HURLING:
The U12 hurlers begin the City League campaign this coming Friday, April 12th with a trip to play Mooncoin at 6:30pm. This will be a stiff test for the team, with the side competing in Division 1, so let’s hope the lads can get off to a winning start and your support will be welcomed.

UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:
Our U13 Footballers have a busy week ahead of them this week. First up is a home game today Monday, April 8th at 6:30pm, where they play Gaultier B, and then on Thursday, April 11th they make the trip to play Tramore, also at 6:30pm.

CONDOLENCES:
Ferrybank GAA club would like to offer its condolences to the family and friends of the late Johnny (Bucky) O' Brien who was the former Chairman of the Eastern Board who sadly passed away last week. A dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam.

ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K FUN RUN WALK:
The 5th Angela Burns Memorial 10k Fun Run/Walk will take place this coming Sunday, April 14th at 11am, starting from the GAA grounds. Once again, this event has been kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel, and we would like to thank Sean Power and his staff for their kind and generous sponsorship. Registration is currently open on http://www.totaltiming.ie/event/angela-burns-memorial-10k-2019/, and its €15 for the runners (chipped) and €10 for the walkers. Online registration will close this coming Friday, April 12th at 23:00.
On the day itself, registration can be done from 09:30 in the GAA grounds.
There will be an Under 12 race on the day, starting at 10:30am, and it will consist of one lap around the track, starting on the bank, and it will cost €2 to enter.
There will be NO parking in the grounds on the day. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to use the car park in the Shopping Centre, but there will be spaces available in the Bellfield housing estate, and we would like to ask all people to park properly, and respect the area of the residents. This event is open to everyone, from Runners, Joggers, Walkers, pram-pushers, and we would ask everyone to come along and enjoy this special day out.
More details can be found on www.facebook.com/AngelaBurnsMemorial10k/

MOTHERS & OTHERS:
The Ferrybank Mothers & Others Ladies Football team (for women over 25) have commenced training for the season. It takes place every Tuesday night in the Hurling alley from 7pm-8pm. New members are most welcome to come along and join in.

DÉISE DRAW:
The 2019 Déise Draw will start on Wednesday, April 24th. It will be the same format as last year, with six monthly draws at €15 per month, with first prize been €12,500; 2nd prize of €2,500, 3rd prize of €1,000; all the way down to prize number twenty (€150). Also, there will be special bonus draws of a Harvey Travel voucher and Super-Valu vouchers to be won.
This is the club’s main source of income, with 70% of the sale of the ticket been retained by the club, which goes towards paying for day-to-day operations. So we would encourage everyone to support the Déise Draw.

JUVENILE GAELIC GAMES ACADEMY:
The club’s Nursery Programme continues each and every Saturday morning from 10am to 11am in the GAA grounds for boys and girls aged between 5 and 6 years old. The nursery programme teaches children the basic movements and skills required to play Gaelic games including agility, balance, coordination, running, jumping, throwing, kicking, striking and catching. All equipment, hurleys and helmets will be supplied.
