ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

JUVENILE GAELIC GAMES ACADEMY:
The Juvenile academy for boys and girls, aged 5 to 6 years of age, continues this coming Saturday morning from 10am to 11am at the GAA grounds.
The club nursery programme teaches children the basic movements and skills required to play Gaelic games. This includes agility, balance, coordination, running, jumping throwing, catching, striking and kicking. The club nursery targets 5 to 6 year olds, and it’s a great way to introduce new children and parents to the club. All equipment, helmets, hurleys, etc. will be supplied.
So why not come along to the Ferrybank GAA grounds this coming Saturday along with the children and we would be delighted to have them on board.

UNDER 17 FOOTBALL:
It’s hard to believe folks, but the GAA season is up and running with our U17 Footballers commencing their Championship campaign this coming Sunday, February 17th where they play away to Mount Sion at 11:30am.
Both these sides met in the Under 16 final last year, and the lads just came out on top after a titanic struggle, so another close game is on the cards. Your support will be welcomed on the day.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Ferrybank’s Intermediate hurlers have been drawn with Dunhill, Portlaw, Erin’s Own, Ballygunner and Butlerstown in this year’s Eastern Championship.
With the top two sides automatically qualifying for the quarter-finals. Opening round of games are scheduled to take place w/e March 31st.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Our Junior Footballers have been grouped with Mount Son, Roanmore and Erin’s Own in this year’s Championship.

DÉISE DRAW:
The launch of the 2019 Déise Draw will take place in Stradbally GAA centre on Thursday, February 14th at 8pm. With the opening draw scheduled to take place on the last Wednesday of April.

ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K:
The fifth Angela Burns Memorial 10K Fun Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, April 14th at 11am, starting from the GAA grounds.
Once again, this event has been kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel, and we would like to thank Sean Power and his staff for their kind and generous sponsorship.
Registration is currently open, on www.totaltiming.ie, and its €15 for the runners (chipped) and €10 for the walkers. This event is open to everyone from marathon runners, joggers, walkers, pram pushers etc., and we would ask everyone to keep this date in your diary, and come along and enjoy this great day out.
More details can be found on www.facebook.com/AngelaBurnsMemorial10k/

COUNTY DUTY:
Best of luck to Mark O' Brien and the Waterford Senor hurling team who play Carlow this coming Saturday evening in Fraher Field.
While on the Camogie scene, it was hard luck to Niamh Ahearne and UCC who were defeated by UL in the final of the Ashbourne Cup played in Mallow last Sunday afternoon.
In the semi-final, UCC defeated WIT, who had Iona Heffernan and Roisin Oates in their team.
While in the Purcell Cup, Maynooth were the winners, but Grainne Heffernan was injured last week and was unable to play.
