Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

UNDER 12 FOOTBALL:
We played two games during the past week playing Kilmacthomas and Tramore. First up was a trip to Kilmac, and the lads had to dig deep, coming away with a hard earned two point win. Next up was a home game against Tramore, and despite a good effort, the lads fell short by four points.

UNDER 11 HURLING:
The Under 11 hurlers took part in the Gala open day in Carraiganore last Saturday, prior to the blitz, Ferrybank winners of Division 3, were presented with the shield by inter-county star Austin Gleeson. All the players were thrilled to meet Austin, and Austin was very generous with his time to our players. Well done to all the lads and the medals will be presented at the Annual Night at the Dogs on Saturday November 21st.

UNDER 10 HURLING:
The Under 10 hurlers played in a blitz in Ferrybank on Sunday morning against Na Gael, Ballyduff, and Na Fianna (Meath). Considering we had only two Under 10s, with the rest made up from the Under 8 & 9s, the lads did well.
It Ferrybank to a while to get warmed up and succumbed to the might of Na Gael in the opening game. Despite this defeat, Ferrybank turned on the magic in the next game against Ballyduff, and in a close match, the lads held out for a two point win. The final game against Meath side Na Fianna was played in similar fashion, and another close finish saw the lads prevail by the minimum.
A fantastic feast of hurling was on display with sixty kids playing their part, and the well of support was amazing. A big thanks to all the teams who travelled to take part, but particular thanks to Na Fianna for making the trip south, we were all impressed by their skill, sportsmanship and support.
Thanks also to those who provided refreshments, and to Nicola, Gemma, Ita and Marguerite who served the refreshments.
TEAM: Paddy Mackey, Conor Daly, Izaak & Jacob Richards, Caolain, Fionn McGarrity, Idir, Conor Haley, Daniel Griffin, Ryan Hughes, Mattie, Sean Heffernan.

Best of luck to all who have purchased tickets for the September Déise draw which takes place this coming Friday night September 25th at Erin’s Own Gaa club. Congratulations to Thomas Hoban who was our confined winner for August.

GREYHOUND NIGHT:
Our Annual night at the dogs will take place in Kilcohan Park on Saturday November 21st.

SPEEDY RECOVERY:
Everyone associated with Ferrybank GAA Club would like to wish Aaron Ahearne a quick and speedy recovery. Aaron suffered a bad injury playing for the Under 14s hurlers last Wednesday night, and hopefully it won’t be too long before we see Aaron back in the green Jersey.
