GAA NOTES

MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor Footballers were defeated by 2 points by Cois Bhride tonight in their Minor Football championship match on a scoreline of 3-6 to 1-10 Leading by a point deep into injury time, the lads conceeded a late goal to hand the visitors victory . Ferrybank squandered plenty of goalscoring chances espically in the first half through a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing and paid the price in the end. Cois Bhride opened the scoring with a goal followed by a point, before Ferrybank replied with points from Keith Power, and MJ Sutton to reduce the gap. Another Cois Bhride score extended the lead, but points from MJ (3), Liam Og Carey(2), Davy Atkins put Ferrybank into the lead by two points. To be fair the lads ought to be further ahead, but clear goalscoring chances went abegging. In the second half, the play got scrappy as scores were hard to come by. Cois Bhride got 1-1 midway through the second half to lead 2-5 to -9pts, but a point from MJ reduced the gap to the miminum, and then MJ scored a excellent individual goal to put the home side two points clear entering the final few minutes. Cois Bhride reduced the gap to a point, and deep into injury time, Ferrybank couldnt clear the ball on a couple of times, and were made to pay when a shot from the '21' went into the top corner of the net to give the visitors the win. This was tough on the lads, and they must quickly turn their attention to Wednesday night where they travel to Ballybeg to play St Saviours at 6:45pm.
