GAA NOTES

FIXTURES:
MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor Footballers are back in action tomorrow night Monday 9th April at 6:45pm in Ferrybank where they will play Cois Bhride.
On Wednesday April 11th at 6:45pm, they lads travel to play St Saviours in Ballybeg. Your support will be greatly appreciated for these games, as these are crucial matches for the lads in their quest to reach the knockout stages.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: The Intermediate hurlers play St Mollerans in Ferrybank at 6:45pm on Tuesday 10th April, in their second game of the Intermediate Hurling league. Having won their opening game the lads will want to make it two wins out of two, so please come along and support the team.

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL: Our under 16's Footballers made a winning start in this years championship with a 6-10 to 1-9 win over a gallent St Saviours side. It was the visitors who made the better side with two quick points in the opening minutes, but Ferrybank got a goal through Davy Atkins to give them the lead. points from Darryl Griffin, Davy Atkins, MJ Sutton (2) kept the home side ahead, before Darryl Griffin got a second goal just before the break. Robbie Carew, MJ Sutton extended the lead to 2-6 to -5pts at half time. MJ Sutton took over the scoring in the second half with three fine points, and then scored three excellent goals, sandwiched in between those goals was Davy Atkins second goal. St Saviours scored a consolation goal to wrap up the scoring. TEAM: Issac Power, David English, Alex Kinsella, Paul Carew, Jeff Lawless, John Ahern, Jack Wicks, Robbie Carew(-1), Liam Og Carey, Darryl Griffin(1-1), MJ Sutton(3-6), William Tyler, Tiernan Morrissey, David Atkins(2-2), John Brown, Shane Meagher. Next game for the lads next Sunday April 14th away to Ardmore at 11:30am.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers defeated Tramore on Saturday last by 1-11 to 1-9 in Ferrybank. Early scores in the opening minutes from Cormac O' Driscoll, Mark O' Brien, Damien Ahern, Eoin O' Neill got the home side of to a good start, but Tramore started to claw their way back into the game with three unanswered scores. Further scores from Eoin O' Neill, Cormac O' Driscoll, Damien extended the lead to four, Tramore got the last score of the half to leave three between them.Like the first half, Ferrybank started the second half well, with Damien Walsh scoring a goal, and Mark O' Brien, Cormac O' Driscoll scored good scores to extended the lead. Tramore again came back with a goal and a point to reduce the gap to four, but Cormac O' Driscoll kept Ferrybank ahead with three points to extend the lead to five. Tramore came at Ferrybank's defence in the closing minutes, but the defence held out, and despite three late points from the visitors, Ferrybank held on for a deserved win, despite shooting a number of wides during the game. PEADERS SUMMER CAMP: There will be a coffee morning in the Parish Hall on Tuesday 24th April, in order to raise much needed funds for the committee to run the biggest summer camp in Ireland. Please come along and support this event, and meet your friends and enjoy the morning. Thanks again for your contuined support.
