The Ferrybank Under 6/7 hurling Panel played a match against Passage East GAA club in the Ferrybank Alley on Wednesday 20th April 2010 at 7pm.
Passage East dominated initially going 3 ahead but once Ferrybank got over the awe of the mass of support (parents, extended family & friends) they were relentless in their pursuit of a goal and this tenacity paid off with a great score from Kyle. Following this the confidence of the Ferrybank side soared and led to another 4 goals in a row courtesy of young Jamie. The Ferrybank midfield, including Evan, Shane Oates, Ruaidhri McGarrity, Ciaran Hodanu, Michael & James Mackessey fed the forwards Jake Butler, Evan, Kyle O’Brien & Michael McLawrence with a good supply of the sliothar. Passage East retaliated but the Ferrybank defence including Ciaran Clarke, Ryan Duggan, Sean Fagan, Sean Heffernan, Izaak Richards and goalkeeping (Daniel Griffin, Ryhs Power & Patrick) was second to none and held well. Passage had a good run of play for the next section of the game but Ferrybank came back again and it ended in well deserved draw.
Special thanks to all the parents (especially the mothers and friends) who got the kids ready and to the venue on time. Their support was incredible and the kids felt like superstars. We could not do this without this support.
Well done to all the players. There was noticeable improvement in the hurling skills and teamwork in all the kids and there will be another match in a couple of weeks so keep up the practice (hurling homework) and attend the training session on Saturday mornings at 10am.
Once again we would welcome any new players (from Junior Infants upwards) particularly those living in the local area but not attending Ferrybank National school. It doesn’t matter if your child hasn’t played before as our coaching sessions place the emphasis on fun. It provides kids with the opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy themselves in a controlled and safe environment. So why not let your child have a go at Gaelic games.
Hurleys and helmets provided at the training sessions.
Our new facilities/grounds are located across from Post Office & down Abbeylands Road on right every Saturday 10-11 with qualified coaches.
