Minor Hurling Championship

Our minor hurlers played their final game of the group stage away to St Olivers on Monday night last.Ferrybank started the game against a strong wind and opened the scoring from a free from Cormac O'Driscoll. St Olivers then took the lead only for Mark Russell who latched on to a loose ball and send an unstoppable shot past the Olivers keeper to give Ferrybank the lead coming towards the end of the half with the score 1-03 to 0-04 in favour of Ferrybank. The second half started with a Sam Lawless point only for Olivers to hit four points on the spin and that looked to set them up for the win only for DJ Magee to rattle the net with a well taken goal. But Olivers then hit back with a goal and a point to leave the score 2-04 to 1-09 with only a few minutes left on the clock. The lads fought their way back with points from Greg Murphy and two from Cormac O'Driscoll to snatch a draw and on the basis of play it was a fair result, with some poor shooting and silly wides from our lads we could have easily taking the points if we converted our chances.Team,Darren Hickey,John Keating Tommy Carew Neill Wymes,Diamen Ahearne Shane O'Sullivan Seamus Burtchill,John Roche DJ Magee(1-0),Cormac Driscoll(0-5) Sam Lawless (0-1) Greg Murphy (0-1),Mark Russell(1-0) Eric Corcoran Jamie Diggins.Subs Dean Phelan Aidan Sinnot Emmet Fell Sean Rellis Jamie English Cormac Dillon. Thanks also to the travelling supporters made the journey which we are always gratefull for. Also we wish panel member Eoin Buggy a speedy recovery he suffered a bad injury training during the week. The draw leaves us top of the group and as of now we don't have a fixture for the next round as soon as we find out we will let you know.
