U 16 Football Match Report

Our u 16s played Rathgormac away on Monday night in the championship. In a great game of championship football the slip boys went down by 2 points 1-9 to 14 pts.

The game started well for Ferrybank, who with the strong wind scored the first 2 points of the game. Rathgormac then came back into the game with the Ferrybank lads being out of sorts. The sides were level at half time and with a strong wind to come things looked very favourable for Rhythmic. The Ferrybank lads were very disappointed with there first half display and were determined to do better into the wind. Their endeavor was rewarded as they matched Rathgormac score for score and produced the better play during this period. Indeed a noticeable aspect of the game was the amount of frees won by Ferrybank just outside scoreable distances. Eventually Rathgormac pulled 3 points clear but Ferrybank were not done and won a penalty which Kevin Hurley converted. In the remaining minutes Rathgormac got the scores to win the game as Ferrybank tired from there valient efforts against the wind.

While the first half produced a disappointing display the second half showed what these lads can do. Our next match is possible on Friday night. Please look out for a confirming text.
