ANNUAL BENEFIT NIGHT:
On Saturday March 8th, Ferrybank GAA club will hold its annual night at the dogs, with the first race down to start at 7:35pm at the Kilcohan Greyhound track. This exciting event is held in association with Derek Jordan & Martin Barrett motors, and it promises to yet again be a fantastic evening of entertainment, racing, and great prizes. We are very grateful to Derek Jordan, who is a big supporter of Ferrybank GAA club, for his continued kind generosity.
Tickets for the event cost €10, and currently can be purchased in advance of the evening from Declan Howard 087-9393818, Karen O' Connor 087-6691523, and Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212.
Also, they will be available to be purchased in several shops during the week, and this will also be advised in due course. We would encourage all players, supporters, and members, to purchase your tickets from the club as all tickets purchased will benefit the club directly.
The main gate prize on the night has once again been kindly sponsored by Sean Power and his staff in Harvey Travel, Gladstone St., which is a weekend away at the luxurious four-star Castlerosse Hotel in Killarney, which includes breakfast and an evening meal, making it a truly special getaway for the lucky winner, plus many more prizes.
Also on the night, dog nominations cards are available from any committee member. Nominations cost €10, and if your dog is successful in winning on the night, a nice €30 awaits you. This is a great way to add an extra layer of excitement to cheer on your nominated greyhound. Once again, a courtesy bus transfer will operate to and from the track on the night, with the bus departing from grotto, and all times will be posted closer to the night.
So, all in all, a great night is assured, and we would once again, encourage everyone from the club to get involved and support your local club, and enjoy a thrilling evening entertainment and community spirit.
CAMOGIE / COUNTY DUTY:
Congratulations to Megan Murphy who has been the latest Ferrybank Camogie player to be called up to the Waterford U16 Camogie panel for the coming year. It’s another positive sign on all the good work being put in at club level.
Training for the Under 6/8/10 will take place on Friday evening from 6-7pm in the hurling alley, where new members are most welcome to come down, and give it a go.
They will learn the skills of the game, in a safe environment, with plenty of fun along the way, with great tips & knowledge given by the experienced coaches on hand. If anyone would like any further information, please contact 089-2275147.
IRELAND LIGHTS UP:
A huge thanks to all who contributed to the Irish Life Steps challenge which concluded last Wednesday night. The team finished in 105th place nationwide, with over 5000 km done in the 5 week challenge, which is great going. A special word of thanks to Aine, who oversaw the walks each week, and also to the walkers who came down to show their support. Well done to all.
