ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

JUNIOR HURLING:

It’s the start of the adult hurling season this week, with three of our teams making the trip to play Clonea on different nights. Our Junior hurlers open their Championship campaign this coming Thursday, July 4th against Clonea with a 7:30pm throw-in. All support will be appreciated on the night.

MINOR HURLING:

This coming Wednesday, July 3rd will see the combined Ferrybank / St. Saviour’s side begin their Championship season away to Clonea at 7:30pm start. Again, all support will be appreciated on the night.

UNDER 15 HURLING:

The combined Ferrybank / Erin’s Own side recorded a great win in their opening game with a 1-15 to 2-11 result away to Tramore last Monday. During that game, Luke O' Connor picked up an injury, we wish him a speedy recovery, and hopefully it won’t be too long before we see him back in the jersey.

UNDER 13 HURLING:

Our Under 13 Hurlers are in action this coming Saturday, July 6th with a home game against St. Oliver’s at 11:30am

UNDER 9 FOOTBALL:

Our U9 Footballers made the trip to Portlaw last Saturday morning. Despite missing a couple of players, the boys put in a great performance on the field taking some great scores, which resulted in winning all three matches they took part in. Well done to all, thanks to Portlaw for the invite.

TEAM: Bobby, David P, Logan, Dima, Jamie, David F, Caelan.

UNDER 7 HURLING:

The U7 hurlers made the short spin to Poleberry last Saturday morning, where they took part in the Erin’s Own centenary games. Thankfully, the weather held up, the lads put in solid performances in the games, which pleased the coaches, and for the hard work they put in they were treated to a nice BBQ and a bouncy castle for a nice bit of fun. A special word of thanks to Erin’s Own for the invitation. TEAM: Donagh, Noah, Cody C, JJ, George, Leon, Jack.

WELL!KIDS PROGRAMME:

The Well!Kids programme continues this coming Saturday morning from 10am to 11am. This is open to boys and girls aged between 4-7. It’s free to attend, where equipment can be provided if needs be. The emphasis is based on fun, and learning our game in a fun, but safe environment.

COUNTY DUTY:

Well done to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford Senior Camogie side on their win over Derry last Saturday afternoon, which ensured their place in this year’s All-Ireland quarter-final against Galway, which will take place in Croke Park next Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm.

During the half time interval, the Ferrybank U8 Camogie side took part in the Go-Games, where they showed off their skills, passing and striking for all to see. Well done to all and thanks to all the parents and coaches for helping out on the day.

PEADAR’S SUMMER CAMP:

Not too long to go for the annual Peadar’s Summer camp which will take place on Monday, July 15th to Friday, July 19th from 10am to 2:30pm. Ireland’s oldest summer camp is now into its 31st year, and it’s a huge testament to the Ahearne family for keeping it going year in, year out.

The Summer camp welcomes boys and girls aged between 5-14 years of age, and they will learn the skills of our national game, in a fun and safe environment. Application forms can be obtained from any committee member, Coffee By King (GAA grounds) or from the Spar shop in Ferrybank.

On Friday, July 12th, the Summer camp will hold a fundraising night in the Mandarin Bar & Restaurant, with live music and plenty of spot prizes available. Tickets cost €2, and we would ask everyone to support this worthy cause, as the money raised goes towards the cost of running the camp.
