ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

JOHN COLLINS TOURNAMENT:

This coming Thursday, June 20th will see Ferrybank GAA club host the annual John Collins Tournament finals for the Boys of 3rd to 6th class in the national school. Some great action is assured on the night, and no doubt, a few future stars of the game will be on display. So please come down and support the boys on what promises to be a great evening, with the action underway at 5pm.

DÉISE DRAW:

The Déise Draw will commence again this year starting on July 12th, with the first draw being broadcast live on WLR. Similar to last year, there will be six draws between July and November, with the 1st prize a nice €10k, 2nd prize €3k, 3rd prize €2k, all the way down to number 16.

Over €126k in prize money will be distributed in the Déise Draw, and as usual, there will be bonus prizes and holiday vouchers along the way.

The Déise Draw has been a vital source of income for Ferrybank GAA club over the last number of years, as 70% of the income is retained by the club itself, which goes towards the day-to-day running of the club’s expenditure.

Tickets for the six draws cost €100, and once again, we ask everyone associated with the club to show your support and purchase a Déise Draw ticket, which can be obtained by contacting Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212, or any committee member.

Living abroad? You can still enter the Déise Draw if you’re living away from home. Simply click on this link and nominate Ferrybank GAA club.

UNDER 13 HURLING:

Our U13 hurlers made it two wins from two with a great win over a spirited Clashmore/Kinsalebeg team last Wednesday on a scoreline of 3-07 to 2-03. The team put in a great effort from start to finish, and held off a late comeback from the homeside to claim the points. Now, they turn their attention to tonight (Monday, June 17th) with a home game against Portlaw at 7pm where all support will be appreciated on the night.

TEAM: Tyler, Jack H, Dean, Logan, Jackson, Paul, James, Matteo, Jake, Conor, Alex, Jamie, Ben.

UNDER 12 HURLING:

Our U12 hurlers had a busy week, playing two matches. First up was a trip to Portlaw last Monday, and the team put in a great effort, but came up just short at the end. It was another away game on Friday night with a trip to play Brickey Rangers, and the lads put in a solid display to claim a great win. Well done to all. Next up for the team is a home game against Stradbally this coming Friday, June 21st at 6:30pm, where all support will be welcomed.

UNDER 11 HURLING:

Our U11 hurlers are in action tonight (Monday, June 17th) where they travel to Clonea to play the home side and Passage in a blitz. This will be a good preparation for the team as on Saturday, June 22nd the team will compete in the Paddy Sheridan tournament in Mount Sion. Best of luck to the team and mentors.

UNDER 10 HURLING & FOOTBALL:

Training for the U10 hurlers and footballers continues on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6-7pm in the GAA grounds, where as usual, new members are welcome to come down and get involved.

UNDER 5/6/7 HURLING:

It was a busy night of action for the U5-7 hurlers as they welcomed De la Salle to the club’s grounds for a number of matches on the night. A good crowd watched on, as both sides got down to business, with plenty of skill being shown on the night. Well done lads, and no doubt, all the hard work is now paying dividends. Thanks to both teams for the games, and to De La Salle for making the trip over.

UNDER 14 CAMOGIE:

Well done to the U14 Camogie side who had a fantastic win away to An Rinn on Thursday night. A great all round performance from the team from start to finish, ensuring the Girls came away with the points. Thanks to all the Parents who made the long trip to support the team on the night.
