ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

CAMOGIE A.G.M.

This coming Wednesday night, February 17th, at 8pm will see the Ferrybank Camogie A.G.M. take place, via Zoom. If you wish to attend, please e-mail secretary.ferrybank.waterford@camogie.ie so that an invitation can be sent.

Everyone is more than welcome to attend, particularly players, parents, or any interested people who would like to get involved in any small capacity. The 2020 playing season was an excellent one for Ferrybank Camogie and let’s hope 2021 will be even better. We look forward to your presence this Wednesday night.

WATERFORD SENIOR CAMOGIE:

The Waterford Senior Camogie side, which includes our own Iona Heffernan, and John (Doxer) Burns as head coach, are asking everyone associated with the club to take part in a 5k run or walk, and donate €5 to the Camogie Senior team training fund for the playing season ahead.

Each person who donates, will be entered into a draw to win a training top, and a training session with the Senior Camogie team. All donations will be gratefully accepted. Donations can be given to the GoFundMe page, details of which can be found the Waterford Camogie social-media pages, or go to gofundme.com.

The girls themselves will be doing their virtual run to Croke Park on Saturday, February 27th as part of their fundraising campaign.

COVID RESTRICTIONS:

As you know, the Government extended the Level 5 restrictions until at least Easter, with that, no on-field activities will be permitted, which includes training or games. It is expected that the Government will publish an updated "Living with Covid" plan, and we expect that this will provide clarity on when clubs are likely to be allowed return to training and games in 2021. It should also provide clarity on when other off-field club activities may be permitted to resume. Thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding.

CLUB A.G.M.

Ferrybank GAA club held its online A.G.M. recently. For the coming season ahead, will see a number of new faces serving on the club’s committee. Declan O' Meara, Treasurer of the club, gave his final report at the meeting, ensuring another comprehensive summary on the club’s finances. Throughout those 50-plus years of service, Declan kept the finances in good order, even during tough times. On behalf of everyone at Ferrybank GAA club, we would sincerely like to thank Declan for his dedicated service and hard work in the Treasurers role, and indeed all the other roles served by Declan, including chairperson. Stepping into Declan's shoes will be Áine Morrissey. Noaise MacCathmhaoil will take over the role as Irish Officer, while Tommy Lane has joined the committee, and we would like to wish Áine, Naoise and Tommy every success in their new roles.

LAST MAN STANDING:

The club are running a Last Man Standing competition fundraiser, with the proceeds going towards the purchase of new goalposts.

The competition will start this coming Friday, February 19th. It’s based on the English Premiership fixtures, where you will select just one team to win their game at the weekend (there will be 10 games to select from). If your selection wins, you will go onto the following weekend and so on. However, if your selection only draws or is defeated, unfortunately you are out of the competition. Also, you can’t pick the same team more than once.

The winner’s prize is a nice €400, with the runner up receiving €100. Entries close this Friday, February 19th, at 5pm sharp. Entry fee is €20, so if you are interested in this event, please contact Thomas Lane (087-0528391), Sam Lawless, Cormac Heffernan or Mark O' Brien.

For those people who have already signed up, details on how to enter your team for this weekend will be posted on our social media pages during the week.

So, no doubt a bit of homework will be needed when selecting your team, and best of luck to everyone involved.

CLOTHING COLLECTION:

The clothing collection is continuing. If you have any of the following items, drop them down to the GAA grounds;

- Clothes

- Paired Shoes

- Belts

Please do NOT send down any DUVETS OR PILLOWS.

Bags can be left at the entrance to the club's grounds between 10am and 11am on Saturday mornings.
