Weekly Notes

UNDER 11 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 11 Footballers played their final game of the season away to John Mitchells on Friday last. The team played some nice Football in the opening half, which yielded some excellent scores and Ferrybank led by 2-04 to 1-02 at half-time. John Mitchells came more into it in the second-half and Ferrybank had to battle hard to maintain their lead, but credit to the lads, as they weathered the storm and put over some fine scores to settle matters, running out 3-08 to 2-04 winners. With the season now over, there will be no more training. The management team would like to thank all the parents for their help and support throughout the campaign and we will see all back in 2014.

UNDER 21 HURLING:
Our Under 21 Hurlers warmed up for their Championship match against Clonea when they made the trip to Gracedieu to play Roanmore in a challenge game last Saturday. Aided by the breeze in the first-half, Ferrybank hit over some good points from John Ahern, Cormac Heffernan, Mark O' Brien, Sam Lawless, Seamus Burtchaell and Robbie Carew ensuring the team lead by 4 points at half-time. Roanmore came into it a lot more in the second-half, scoring an early goal and scoring some good points to reduce the gap. But Ferrybank kept battling away and Jeff Lawless scored a goal to keep some daylight between the sides. Roanmore levelled it up as the game entering its closing moments, but Ferrybank dug deep and late scores from John Ahern and Mark O’ Brien ensured a good win on a score line of 1-19 to 2-14. No doubt the selectors will have been pleased with the performance of the team, as they now turn their attention to next Saturday Oct 19th at 3pm here in Ferrybank, where they play Clonea in the Eastern ‘A Championship. Please come along and support the team.

MINOR CAMOGIE:
The Ferrybank Minor Camogie team qualified for the Waterford County 'B final by virtue of a 4-03 to 1-05 win over An Rinn/Dungarvan on Sunday morning last in Ferrybank. In a hard fought tussle, the Ferrybank girls got the breaks when they needed them most. In a tight first-half, it was the visitors who looked the more impressive, but a Niamh Ahearne goal had a point up at half-time. As the second-half wore on, Ferrybank began to get stronger with goals from Niamh Ahearne (2) and Aislinn O' Keeffe clinched a great win. They now go on and meet De La Salle in the final.

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 16 Football match against St. Marys which was scheduled to take place last Sunday morning was postponed due to a bereavement and will be replayed at a later date.
