Hurling match report for Under 8 Carriagnore blitz

• The Ferrybank Under 8 hurling team played 3 matches in the Carriganore blitz on Saturday 9th April 2011. Under 8 Team: Jake Butler, Sean Heffernan, Daniel Griffin, Ruaidhri McGarrity, Sean Fagan, Jamie Sutton, Kyle O'Brien, Michael Mackessy, James Mackessy, Ross Burke-Derham, Odhran Power, Alex Byrne, Eddie Daly, Samuel Lescak, Mathew O’Sullivan, Markus Izotovs, Shane Purcell, Shane Oates. With Kyle O’Brien in top form up front, the village got an early lead in our first game. Shane Oates, Eddie Daly, Ruaidhri McGarrity and Ross Burke-Derham fought hard in the midfield, while the defence comprising Sean Hefferenan, Alex Byrne, Odhran Power, Markus Izotovs battled to maintain the lead. The Teamwork was fantastic as illustrated by the fine score from Jamie in the third game; Daniel Griffin in goal sent the sliothar up to midfield where Jake butler, Isaac Richards, Samuel Lescak and Sean Fagan outwitted their opponents and managed to supply the ball to the forwards Michael Mackessy, Shane Purcell, Mathew O’Sullivan and Jamie Sutton and after a sustained attack they struck gold.
