GAA NOTES

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate hurlers travelled to Carrickbeg last Thursday night to play St Mollerans in a challenge game, and following a good game of hurling under the lights, it was the home side who emerged winners on a scoreline of 4-11 to 2-11. Brendan O' Meara opened the scoring with a fine point before points were exchanged by both sides. Points from Cormac 0' Driscoll, Sam Lawless, James Murphy, Seamus Burchill kept the scoreboard ticking over, before a fine Mark Drennan goal put us four points clear. However just before half time St Mollerans scored 1-2 without reply, with the goal coming from a 21 yard free, which resulted in St Mollerans going in with a 2 point lead of 1-7 to 1-5. A second Mollerans goal straight away in the second half, pit them five points clear, but credit to the team as the lads battled away and drew level, midway through the second half with points from Sam Lawless, Cormac O' Driscoll, and a goal from Damien Walsh. But a lapse in concentration from the defence resulted in Mollerans scoring 2 quick goals to put them six points clear, and closed out the win. This was a good effort from the players, and despite missing a few players, the lads will have learned a lot from the game. Thanks to all who came along and supported the lads.
