UNDER 14 HURLING: Ferrybank 5-9 Portlaw 4-8: Our under 14 hurlers played Portlaw in their first game in the Tramore Gaa sponsered Eastern Bord Na Og hurling championship, and just came out on top in a very close and exciting game. Trailling by 2-3 to 1-1 at half time, Ferrybank looked dead and buried, but raised their game considerably in the second half to gain victory. With players like Jack Wicks, Shane Meagher, Alex Hughes, David Atkins doing all the hard work around the middle of the field, winning plenty of ball and then setting up our forwards for scores. Our forwards played very well scoring five goals, with Issac Power goal the most memorable, and also Andrew Whelan hitting the winning goal from a lovely ground strike. In defence Alex Grant and Paul Carew putting in trojan work when needed also deserve praise. Our next game is on the 30TH March, home to Clonea.
MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor footballers hopes of reaching the knockout stages were well and truley dashed in Fenor last Saturday as a stronger Dunhill/Fenor side defeated Ferrybank on a scoreline of 4-14 to 1-7. Ferrybank never got going in this game as each Dunhill/Fenor attack yieled scores, and this was reflected on the half time scoreboard, with the homeside leading 3-9 to 1-3, with Luke flynn scoring the Ferrybank goal from the spot. Any hope of making a second half rally were dashed as a fourth goal fininshed the game as a contest. Tried as they could Ferrybank couldnt breach the Dunhill/Fenor defence for scores, when it mattered. Our final game is on Saturday week March 26th home to Ardmore at 3pm. TEAM: Jamie English, Mark Russell, Seamus Burchill, Emmet Fell, Damien Ahern, Robbie Carew, Oisin Mc Caothaoil,Mark O' Brien, Colin McEntire, Luke Flynn, Thomas Lane, Eoin Buggy, Darren Hickey.
