UNDER 14 FOOTBALL: Dunhill/Fenor 8-5 . Ferrybank 3-8. Our Under 14 Footballers were on the wrong end of a goal rut by Dunhill/Fenor in the Bord Na Og Dawn pork & Bacon Estern Football championship. Ferrybank had the best of the play in the first half with our forwards laying seige in Dunhill/Fenor goal, but despite all the play they failed to get into a commanding lead scoring points when goals were on, and amazingly ended the first half down by two points, with Dunhill/Fenor scoring goals every time they broke out of defence. The second half started even enough, with both teams exchanging scores, but we were made to pay for some sloppy defending midway through the second half when Dunhill/Fenor scored four goals without reply in a five minute spell of calamity defending by our backs, That ended the game as a contest, but in fairness to Ferrybank they never gave in and attacked up to the final whistle. Darryl Griffin, Shane Meagher, Tiernan Morrissey, Jack Wicks, David Atkins, were best for Ferrybank on the day and didnt deserve to be on the losing side. We Play Roanmore next Saturday 12th March at home with a 4:30pm throw in.
