GAA NOTS

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL: FERRYBANK 8-1, PORTLAW 4-3.
Ferrybank played their first game of the year in the Bord Na Og Dawn Pork and Bacon Eastern Football championship, and had a hard fought win against a determined Portlaw side. With the wind at their backs in the first half, Ferrybank dominated the play, with the forwards scoring five goals to Portlaws 2-1. David Atkins, Alex Hughes and Jack Wicks, were in control of the half back line, and set up wave after wave of scoring chances for the forwards who duly obliged, with birthday boy Issac Power scoring 3 goals, David Atkins, and John Hickey getting the other two. The second half at first, looked like Ferrybank were going to repeat their first half performance having built up a four goal lead, thanks mainly to Shane Meagher, Kacper Woloszyn, Paul Carew excellent play, however in fairness Portlaw never gave in and rallied to get within a point with 10 minutes to go. David Atkins, Tiernan Morrissey, and John Hickey steadied the ship with 3 goals to get us over the line and claim the two points on offer.
