GAA NOTES

UNDER 14 HURLING: CARRIGEEN TOURNAMENT. Ferrybank travelled to Carrigeen on Saturday last and defeated Piltown on a scoreline of 12-2 to 11-3. They all have but qualified for the knockout stages of this well orgainsed competition, after a fine second half performance which saw us win by 2 points in a highly competitive match. David Atkins was outstanding for the Villagers throughout, with fine performances from Alex Grant, Tiernan Morrissey, Paul Carew, David English. TEAM: Jack Wicks, Shane Meagher, Issac Power, Tiernan Morrissey, David English, Jono Brown, David Atkins, Paul Carew, Alex Grant.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor Footballers recorded an excellent victory on Saturday last under the lights in Leamybrien against Kilrossanty in round two of the Minor Football championship on a scoreline of 3-8 to 2-8. The game was still in the balance, with the Villagers 3 points up in injury time, when the home side were awarded a penelty, which was driven wide. Despite a lot of injury time played Ferrybank held on for a vital win and claim the two points on offer. This result has put us right back in the shake up for the knockout stages. Our next game is next Sunday 6th March at 11:30am away to Mt Sion. Please come along and support the team.

COACHING CONFERENCE: Waterford Gaa Coaching Conference will take place next Saturday 5th March in W.I.T. at 9:15am until 2pm. Tickets for the conference are on a first come first served basis at £30 each from Nicky Heffernan
087-6724212. The opening address will come from Pat Flanagan Kerry All Ireland winning trainer and will speak on health and fitness in players to compliment skills. Davy Fitzgerald the Waterford Senior Hurling Manager will speak with the county under 15 development squad. John Owens will also be there with the Minor football squad. finally Martin Fogarty Kilkenny All Ireland hurling trainer will also speak.

DEISE DRAW: Tickets are now on sale from Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212 for the 2011 Deise Draw. Tickets costs £10 per month, which will run until November. The first draw will take place on Friday 25th March. Cash prizes run from £10,000 euro to £150 euro. (24 prizes in total). We would urge all Players, members, supporters, Parents to support this draw, as the funds raised goes directly back in to the club.

MEMBERSHIP: Membership for 2011 is now due. It is essential that all players pay their membership for the year. Its not fair that some people have paid ,and others havent. With all players of all ages to be registered and insured, that is why ,it is essential for membership to be paid. Adults 50 euro. Unemployed/ Students £25 euro. Minor £10 euro. Under 16's £5 paid.

UNDER 9/10. Spring Training sessions have begun using the hurling alley and Gaa field. Weather permitting to hone our skills and fitness. It is great to see in ball skills displayed, after only a few sessions in our new outdoor hurling alley. Every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm and from Saturdays from 11:15am to 12:15pm. It costs £2 euro for both sessions with qualified coaches. If you want to see your son involved in team sports, now is the time to do so.
