TEAM 100:
With the playing season in full flow, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. Phase 2 (shell and core) is nearing completion, and we are preparing for Phase 3 (fit out) with your help. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.
This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.
Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.
Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.
Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for an application form to join Team 100.
COUNTY DUTY:
Everyone at Ferrybank GAA and Camogie club would like to wish the very best of luck to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford Senior Camogie team in next Saturday’s All-Ireland semi-final against Tipperary in Nowlan Park.
The team have had a great season so far, and now just one game away from the final. As we all know in these games, support will be crucial, so why not go along to Nowlan Park on Saturday and support the team, and hopefully they will come away with the win. Tickets for the game can be purchased here. In addition, a Go Fund Me account has been set up to raise funds for the squad – all donations are greatly appreciated. Best of luck girls.
MINOR HURLING:
Our Minor hurlers made it two from two with a hard fought win over a good Abbeyside team last Wednesday. Taking your scores proved crucial, as Ferrybank took theirs, whereas Abbeyside missed a few when coming right back into the game.
The opening half was a tight affair with little to separate both sides as points were exchanged, with Evan Mullally, Caolan MacCathmhaoil, and Conor Haley raising white flags. Ferrybank scored a crucial goal through Jay Bagge who latched onto the ball, and struck to the net. The defence gave very little away, with Sean Adeyemi and Sean Byrne dominating the full back line, which ensured a 1-07 to 0-05 lead at the break.
Ferrybank began to take control of the game, especially in midfield, where Fionn McGarrity and Mark Flanagan were winning a lot of the ball. Up front, the excellent Caolan MacCathmhaoil was setting up plenty of scoring chances, which Conor Haley, Evan Mullally and Jay Bagge duly obliged with points. As a result, this put the team into an eight-point lead, and seemed to be coasting to victory. However, as the game wore on Abbeyside got a goal, and this seemed to spur them on with another two points to reduce the gap. The home side missed a few scoring chances, which proved costly for them, as points from Conor Haley closed out a good win for the team.
Next up is a home game on Wednesday, July 19th against St. Marys at 7:30pm.
Team: Kyle Daly, Sean Adeyemi, Paddy Mackey, Sean Byrne, Conor Daly, Harry Flanagan, Jacob Richards, Mark Flanagan, Fionn McGarrity, Adam Aspel, Conor Haley (0-09), Evan Mullally (0-03), Dean Clarke, Caolan MacCathmhaoil (0-01), Jay Bagge (1-02), Max O’ Sullivan, Conor Morrissey, Jack Hoban.
