ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

TEAM 100:

With the playing season in full flow, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.

This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.

Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.

Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.

Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for an application form to join Team 100.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

The Intermediate hurlers will play Tramore in the All-County Division 3 Hurling League Final this coming Friday in St. Saviours’ GAA grounds at 7:30pm.

Despite defeating their opponents in the league stage, this will be a different test for the team, and no doubt Tramore will be up for this game. Again, all support will be appreciated on the night. Best of luck lads.

PEADAR’S SUMMER CAMP:

Peadar’s Summer Camp takes place the week beginning July 17th, running from 10am to 2pm each day. The camp promotes the skills of our national games and is open for children aged between 5 and 15 years old. The fee is €30 per child.

Application forms can be downloaded here.

If you are interested in helping out in the camp and are over 16 years old, then please download the application form here. Please note that Garda Vetting and Child Safe Guarding must be completed prior to application. Those interested must also attend a pre-camp induction training session on Saturday, July 15th from 11am to 1pm.

UNDER 13 HURLING:

An understrength combined Ferrybank/ St Saviours side were defeated by Erins Own last Monday in Poleberry. Hopefully, the team can get back to winning ways where they play away to Portlaw at 7pm on Wednesday, June 21st.

UNDER 11 HURLING:

Our U11 hurlers are in action this coming Friday with a home game against Tramore at 6:30pm.

UNDER 9/10 HURLING:

Our U9s/U10s made the trip last Wednesday to play St. Saviours in a number of challenge games. On a good night for it, both sides didn’t disappoint the crowd, with some excellent skills and scores being taken, with both sides battling all the way to the whistle. Thanks to St. Saviours for being excellent hosts.

JOHN COLLINS TOURNAMENT:

The John Collins Hurling Tournament will take place this coming Tuesday, June 20th at 6:30pm in the club’s grounds. With four teams in action, the teams are made up from the Boys’ National School, so no doubt there will be plenty of action on the night for all to see. So, please come along, and see the future stars in action.

DÉISE DRAW:

The second Déise Draw will take place tonight (June 19th). Best of luck to everyone who has purchased a ticket, and hopefully we can have a winner or two on the night.

COUNTY DUTY:

Well done to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford Senior Camogie team that recorded a good win over Limerick last Sunday in the All-Ireland Championship. The girls have now guaranteed themselves a place in the knockout stages.

Also well done to Sean Adeyami, Conor Haley and Fionn McGarrity who have been busy in recent weeks with the Waterford Under 15 hurling squad playing a number of matches.

UNDER 8 CAMOGIE:

Our Under 8 Camogie side welcomed Tramore to our grounds last Sunday morning for a mini blitz. With 27 players reporting for duty, there was plenty of passion on the field, as the girls put in a great team effort against their opponents. No doubt all the hard work is now paying dividends. Thanks to Tramore for coming over on the day. Training continues on Wednesdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 11am, with new members more than welcome to come along and get involved.
