CAMOGIE / COUNTY DUTY:
Our Intermediate Camogie girls made it two wins from two last Saturday with a hard fought win away to Ballyduff Upper on a scoreline of 4-06 to 3-05. This was a good performance from the team, as they had to dig deep for the win in tough conditions, as Ballyduff Upper kept battling all the way to the end. With goals from Niamh Ahearne and Valerie O’ Brien in the opening half, Ferrybank held a slender 2-02 to 1-02 lead at the break. It looked like they would go on to record a comfortable win, with further goals from Roisin Oates and a second from Niamh Ahearne, however Ballyduff Upper came back with goals of their own to set up a nervy finish. The Ferrybank defence held firm in the closing minutes, with solid defending, giving little away, and a final point from Niamh Ahearne sealed the win.
No doubt the selectors will be pleased with this battling performance, and it’s now onto next Saturday, May 6th with a home game against Abbeyside at 6:30pm, where all support will be welcomed. A special word of thanks to the Ballyduff Upper team for their kind hospitality after the game.
Well done to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford senior Camogie team on their excellent display and result defeating Cork in the quarter-finals of the Munster Championship last Sunday in Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
TEAM 100:
With the playing season back up and running, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.
This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.
Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.
Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.
Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for an application form to join Team 100.
DÉISE DRAW:
The 2023 Déise Draw will commence on Monday, May 22nd. Similar to last year, there will be six draws, with over twenty cash prizes up for grabs each night. The draw will remain at €90 (€15 per month), with the participating club retaining 70% of the funds they generate from sales.
This is the club’s biggest source of income each year, and we would ask everyone associated with the club to purchase a Déise Draw ticket.
UNDER 11 HURLING:
Our U11 hurlers made it two wins from two with a good win away to Dungarvan last Friday. From start to finish, this was a competitive match with Dungarvan making the better start. However, slowly the Ferrybank team got to grips, and with the aid of good scores saw them go into the lead at the half-time break.
From then on, Ferrybank hurled excellently in the second-half and stretched the lead as the game wore on, which they held until the final whistle to claim the points.
Credit to both teams, who gave it everything, and contributed to a tough but skilful game which saw scores coming from sidelines, long range frees, and open play. The players and coaches would like to thank all the parents for their support and commitment in getting them to Dungarvan on the night.
TEAM: Darragh, Odhran, Tadhg, Conor, Logan, Alex, Darragh, Sinead, Brooklyn, Taylor, Jack, Sam. Matthew, Darragh.

UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:
No Joy for the Ferrybank/St. Saviour’s side as they were defeated by a good St. Mary’s side last Monday on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-05. The team were on the back foot for the first-half, with St. Mary’s proving more economical in the forward line and created plenty of chances which saw them into a 1-08 to 0-04 lead at the break.
An early goal from Senan in the second-half, gave the lads a bit of hope, but St. Mary’s quickly replied with a crucial second goal to run out comfortable winners.
