ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

COUNTY DUTY:

Well done to Iona Heffernan and the Waterford Senior Camogie team that maintained their unbeaten record in the ‘Very League’ National League competition, with a good win over Down in Gracedieu last Saturday afternoon.

They can now look forward to the League Final, where they will either play Antrim or Wexford on Saturday/Sunday April 8th/9th.

MEMBERSHIP:

It’s that time of the year again, with the GAA playing season coming upon us, and therefore we would ask all players to pay their membership ASAP. Adults €80 Students/Unwaged €40.

TEAM 100:

With sporting activities resuming the club grounds, many people will have seen the progression of the new clubhouse development. This is the biggest capital development project in the history of Ferrybank GAA club. With the recent upsurge in the underage section, this development will benefit these juvenile members and indeed the wider community far into the future.

This project will deliver a new building, consisting of modern dressing rooms, and a community orientated multipurpose rooms for all.

Team 100 has delivered numerous projects for Ferrybank GAA club in the past, including our hurling alley, running track, ball stoppers, pitch drainage, car park tarmacking, and the initial enabling works for this new project. We would ask everyone associated with the club; parents, supporters and players to join Team 100, and contribute to the continued development of the club and community.

Joining Team 100 involves paying a €25 per month standing-order (€6.25 per week) to the club, which covers your full-membership for the year. This works out as the price of a few cups of coffee/tea a week.

Please talk to any member, mentor, trainer or e-mail ferrybankgaa@gmail.com for more details on how to join Team 100.

UNDER 12 CAMOGIE:

Training continues every Tuesday evening from 5:30pm-6:30pm & Fridays from 5-6pm. With the bright evenings now upon us, new members are most welcome to come down and get involved, where full coaching is provided.

UNDER 8 CAMOGIE:

The Under 8 and Under 10 Camogie squad got together last Saturday morning for a combined training session. A good turnout in lovely weather conditions, saw the girls being put through their paces, which concentrated on passing, movement and striking, which was enjoyed by all. We welcome Poppy and Lily into the Under 8 group.

Next week, the Under 10 squad will train at 10 am, while the Under 8 will train at 11 am, and once again, new members are welcome to come down and get involved.

UNDER 6/7/8 HURLING:

Training for the boys is on Wednesdays and Fridays 6-7pm. As usual, it’s a fun-filled hour, learning the skills of our national game. Again, new members are most welcome to come on down to the GAA grounds and get involved.

MOTHERS & OTHERS:

The Mothers & Others Footballers are back in training this coming Monday at 7pm. All new members are welcome to come down and get involved.

DÉISE DRAW:

The 2023 Déise Draw will commence on Monday, May 22nd. Similar to last year, there will be six draws, with over twenty cash prizes up for grabs each night. The draw will remain at €90 (€15 per month), with the participating club retaining 70% of the funds they generate from sales.

This is the club’s biggest source of income each year, and we would ask everyone associated with the club to purchase a Déise Draw ticket.

CLOTHES COLLECTION:

The clothes collection has now resumed for the year ahead, with many people now beginning a spring clean. If you have any of the following items that you don’t require;

- Clothes

…you can drop them down to the club grounds on Saturday and Sunday morning from 10 am to 12 noon. Once again, we appeal to the public NOT TO SEND DOWN ANY PILLOWS OR DUVETS PLEASE.

DAFFODIL DAY:

Well done to Andrew and Mark of Coffee By King who held a Tea/Coffee morning in the GAA grounds last Saturday morning, where all proceeds raised on the day went towards the Irish Cancer Society. Kudos to all concerned.
