ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:

The combined Ferrybank/St. Saviours Football team are in semi-final action tonight (Monday, May 9th) in Bunmahon, where they take on The Nire with a 6:30pm throw-in.

No doubt, a stiff test awaits the team, but they will be heartened with a very good win in the quarterfinal played the previous Monday over Cois Bhride. Please come along and support the team on the night.

UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:

The combined Ferrybank/Sacred Heart side recorded a thrilling win over Ballyduff Lower last Monday, winning on a scoreline of 5-08 to 3-10. This therefore sets up a semi-final clash against Tramore this coming Wednesday, May 11th in St. Mollerans GAA grounds, Carrickbeg with an 8pm throw-in. Again, all support for the team is welcome on the night.

MINOR FOOTBALL:

The minor football team will play Stradbally this coming Tuesday, May 10th in Ferrybank at 7pm, in their opening game in the league. Please support the lads.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

Our Intermediate Hurlers resume All-County League action this coming Friday, May 13th with a trip to play Ballysaggart at 7:15pm.

NURSERY GROUP:

Our Under 6 teams made the trip to Roanmore last Saturday morning to take part in a blitz. We had four teams lining out for us, and each and everyone of the players put in a fantastic effort from start to finish, showing plenty of skill on the pitch, with a number of great goals scored. Well done to everyone and thanks to Roanmore for hosting the games.

It was another busy week on the training field with excellent numbers turning up, and in the weekly stars of the week winners, it was congratulations to Jamie and Amber in the Under 7's group, while in the Under 8's, well done to Reece and Sophie.

A huge thanks to all the Mentors and trainers who have put in a huge effort with the teams, and, bit by bit, it is beginning to pay dividends on the field.

WATERFORD FÉILE:

Next Monday May 16th will see the qualifying section of the U15 Féile hurling taking place in Carraiganore. The Ferrybank/St. Saviours team will play St. Marys at 6:45pm, followed by Passage at 7:30pm, and Sacred Heart at 8:15pm, with the top 2 teams qualifying for the semi-final and finals, which will take place on Tuesday May 17th. Each match will be 12.5 minutes per half.

COUNTY DUTY:

Hard luck to Shiner Ahearne and the Waterford Minor Hurling team that were defeated by Tipperary in the semi-final of the Munster Championship last Tuesday in Thurles.

DÉISE DRAW:

The 2022 Déise Super Draw will commence on Wednesday, May 18th. There will be six draws in total, taking place every four weeks. Each ticket for the draw cost €15, or €90 for the six draws. A total of 23 cash prizes ranging from a top prize of €10k for the 1st prize, €3k for the 2nd prize, €2k for 3rd prize, €1k for 4th and 5th prize, all the way down to prize number 23. Also on each draw night, there will be bonus draws for special prizes.

As we all know, the Déise Draw has been a key fundraiser for the club, year-in, year-out. The money retained by the club (70% in total) goes towards maintaining the costs associated with the day-to-day running of the club. We would encourage everyone associated with the club to purchase a Déise Draw ticket for the year ahead. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member of the club.

ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K:

The 7th Annual Angela Burns Memorial Run/Walk, kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel, Gladstone St., will take place on Sunday, May 29th at 11am. This event is open to everyone, and we would encourage all people to come along and enjoy this great day out, whether it’s a run or walk on the day that you would like to do. Once again, we would like to thank Sean Power and his staff for their kind and generous sponsorship of this event.

Entry fee is €15 for runners and €10 for walkers. If you would like to register, you can log onto my.raceresult.com/198275/ and enter there. So, keep this date in your diary, and we look forward to seeing you there.
