UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:
The combined Ferrybank/St. Saviours travelled to play Roanmore last Monday morning in their final league game, and following a good game of football, both sides had to be content in sharing the spoils on a scoreline of 0-06 to 1-03. This was the side’s final league game in the group, and they remain second in the table with seven points from there six games. With one more round of fixtures remaining, those games will decide where Ferrybank/St. Saviours finish and will determine play-off positions.
UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:
The combined Ferrybank/Sacred Heart side edged out An Ghaeltacht in their final league game last Wednesday night on a scoreline of 3-04 to 2-06. A good result for the team, and they have completed the league stages with six points.
NURSERY GROUP:
It was another busy week for the Nursery Group, with another great turnout for training last weekend. With the popular ‘Star of the Week’ up for grabs, plenty of local talent was on show, and yet again, it was another tough call to make by the mentors. Congratulations to Logan and Harvey who were winners in the Boys’ Under 7 and 8 category, while Saoirse and Olivia were winners in the Girls’ Under 7 and 8 category.
DÉISE DRAW:
The 2022 Déise Super draw will commence on Wednesday, May 18th. There will be six draws in total, taking place every four weeks. Each ticket for the draw cost €15, or €90 for the six draws, with 23 cash prizes in total, ranging from €10,000 for 1st Prize, €3k for 2nd prize, €2k for 3rd prize, €1k for 4th & 5th prize, all the way down to prize number 23. There will be Bonus draws each night for special prizes as well.
The Déise Draw has been a key fundraiser for the GAA club, year in, year out. The money retained by the club (70% in total) goes towards maintaining the costs associated with the day-to-day running of the club. We would encourage everyone associated with the club to purchase a Déise Draw ticket for the year ahead, which are now currently available from any committee member.
COUNTY DUTY:
It was a busy week for some of our players and coaches over the last few days representing the county. Hard luck to Doxer Burns (coach), Iona Heffernan and Niamh Ahearne who were involved with the Waterford Senior Camogie team that were narrowly defeated by Cork last Sunday afternoon, in the Munster Semi Final in Páirc Uí Rinn.
Best of luck to Shiner Ahearne and the Waterford Minor hurling team that travel to Limerick this evening (Tuesday, April 26th) in the quarter-finals of the Munster Championship.
It was a busy weekend for the McGarrity and Haley families with two sets of siblings representing the Déise. Ciara Haley and Cliodhna McGarrity lined out for the Waterford Under 14 Camogie side against Carlow, while Conor Haley and Finn McGarrity were involved with the Waterford Under 15 hurlers against Clare. Well done everyone.
ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K:
