BENEFIT NIGHT:
The club held its annual benefit night last Saturday night at Kilcohan Park. A big crowd from the village went over, and had a great night’s entertainment of thrills and spills on the racing front, with a few people going home with a smile on their face, having made a few euros.
The main gate prize, which again was kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel Gladstone St, was a weekend away in the Castleross Hotel Killarney, and congratulations to James Mylett who was the lucky winner. Many thanks to Sean Power and his staff for sponsoring the prize.
Dermot Mooney won Tipperary Crystal Cutlery, while Josie Carew was the winner of the meat voucher. Also on the night, our victorious U13 Hurling team were presented with their County medals by Mark O' Brien and Cormac Heffernan. Later on in the evening, the adult player of the year awards were handed out with Neil O’ Sullivan selected by his fellow players as the Intermediate hurler of the year. Shane Oates was the Junior Hurler winner and Oisín MacCathmhaoil was Junior Footballer of the year. On the Camogie front, there was a popular selection in Aisling Heffernan. Despite picking up a serious knee injury last season, Aisling kept driving on the team, both on and off the field, and this was recognised by her fellow players in rewarding her with this award. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we see Aisling back in the green jersey.
A special word of thanks to the people who ensured the benefit night went ahead smoothly. Thanks to all our sponsors, advertisers, race nominations, and people who purchased tickets. Also, thank you to the management at Kilcohan Park for their help and assistance.
CAMOGIE A.G.M.:
This evening (March 7th), the Camogie club will hold their A.G.M. at 7:30pm on Zoom (link to follow, so keep an eye on the club’s Facebook page). Everyone is invited to join in, and even come on board to help out for the coming season ahead.
With the Camogie numbers growing each year, new members are more than encouraged to come on board and help out in any way, no matter how big or small they can contribute, it would be greatly appreciated.
NURSERY GROUP:
The Nursery Group will start at the earlier time of 5:45pm on a Friday night in the Hurling alley. With a stretch now in the evenings, the group will get their training done in daylight. Great numbers are attending each week, and again, new members are most welcome to come along and attend.
