ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

JUNIOR FOOTBALL:

No joy for the Junior Footballers last Tuesday night, as they were well beaten in their latest game at Carriganore, against a very strong Mount Sion team.

Mount Sion got a goal in the opening minute, and from there on took full control of the game, creating plenty of scoring chances and converting them. Despite a second-half goal from Greg, Ferrybank had no answer to their opponents, who ran out easy winners in the end.

Despite this defeat, all is not lost, and the lads now play St. Molleran’s this coming Friday, October 22nd at 7:30pm in Carrickbeg for a place in the semi-finals. Hopefully we will have a few players back for this upcoming game. All support will be welcomed on the night.

INTERMEDIATE CAMOGIE:

Unfortunately our latest Camogie match against Brickey Rangers last Saturday afternoon was abandoned in the opening stages of the first-half, due to a serious injury sustained by Aisling Heffernan.

The club would sincerely like to thank Joanie McGrath from the Brickey Rangers for all her help, and also to Áine Prendergast for keeping Aisling comfortable while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Everyone at the club would like to wish Aisling a full and safe recovery.

The match has now been rescheduled to take place this coming Wednesday October 20th at 8pm in Bushey Park, where all support will be appreciated.

UNDER 6 HURLING:

Another excellent turnout last Saturday morning, which saw over 30 boys and girls down in the field learning the skills of the game, and plenty of progress is being made. Thanks to all the mentors and volunteers who help out with the training every Saturday morning from 10am, and please note, new members are most welcome to come along and get involved.

DÉISE DRAW:

We had two winners in last Wednesday night’s Déise Draw at the Mount Sion centre. Congratulations to the ‘Heffernan Boys’ who won €2,000, and to Michael Walsh who won €100. Once again, a huge thanks to all who have purchased tickets for the draw, and the fifth draw will take place on Wednesday November 3rd.

BENEFIT NIGHT:

The club intends to hold its annual benefit night in Kilcohan on Saturday November 20th. Hopefully, by then, all restrictions will be lifted, so keep this date in your diary, and we will keep all posted regarding all of the night’s information.

CLOTHING COLLECTION:

The clothing collection is continuing. If you have any of the following items, drop them down to the GAA grounds;

- Clothes

- Paired Shoes

- Belts

Please do NOT send down any DUVETS OR PILLOWS.

Bags can be left at the entrance to the club's grounds on a weeknight, or between 10 am and 11 am on Saturday mornings.
