ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

UNDER 15 HURLING:
Our U15 hurlers are in semi-final action this coming Thursday September 12th when they take on Ballyduff Upper in Stradbally at 7pm.
Having gone through the league stages unbeaten, this will be a stiff test for the team, as only three points separated the sides when they last met, so another close game is on the cards. The team have prepared well for this match, and no doubt your support will be crucial on the night.

UNDER 13 HURLING:
The U13 hurlers are in quarter-final action this coming Sunday September 15th at 11am, with a home game against Ballyduff Upper.
Again, this will be a good test for team, and once again all support will be welcomed on the day.

JUNIOR HURLING:
The Junior hurlers exited the Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs Eastern Championship last Saturday afternoon when they were defeated by Roanmore at the quarter-final stage on a score line of 3-12 to 1-10.
Going into the game, the team was short a number of key players, and this was evident on the day. Roanmore made the early running, and lead at the half-time break by 1-05 to 0-04, with Cian Martin in the goal pulling off a number of crucial saves in the game. Despite points from Eimhin Burns, James Murphy and Luke Butler keeping Ferrybank in the hunt, Roanmore struck for an early second-half goal to extend the lead and began to pull away. The lads kept going and were rewarded with a goal from Andrew Heffernan, but time ran out on the team.

MINOR HURLING:
The Minor hurlers recorded a thrilling win over a gallant Clashmore/Kinsalebeg in Ferrybank last Sunday morning, winning on a score line of 3-20 to 2-17 after extra-time.
The opening half was keenly contested with Ferrybank holding a narrow 0-09 to 0-08 lead at the break. Despite being down a player in the second-half, Clashmore scored a goal, and looked to have a grip on the game, only for Shane Oates to score a fine goal to bring Ferrybank right back into it. With points being traded by both sides, Ferrybank’s defence was holding firm, and despite trailing by two points entering the closing minutes, Ferrybank rallied and brought the game into extra time, where the momentum has shifted to the home side. From here the lads pulled away to record a fine win. This victory has now put them into the quarter-finals, and it looks like Brickey Rangers will be there opponents.
